Downloading off limewire as I type...also use Ares.
Piratebay is nice cause so easy. I also have demonoid account. Use mediafire, megaupload, rapidshare, sharebee, filesonic, etc...when ever possible.
Oh, and hide your ip well if you torrent. My friend just got a letter from his isp...
When I torrent I use a program that makes it so even the FBI can't track me. And no I don't download that sick shit, I just don't want to chance one of those ridiculous fines/lawsuits production companies are doling out.

I 100% assure you it is impossible for them to trace me with the program I use. The FBI requested the creators of the software put in a back door just for them but they wouldn't do it, and insist if FBI brings a court order they will fight it.

Be careful, you're not allowed to use the FBI logo without consent. Just saw an article about them coming down on wikipedia for using it in an article ABOUT the FBI... so I am sure we're not allowed to use it here
Priceless.
I haven't downloaded music in a while, but I liked Walmart's service, 88-cent tracks at the time, kicked ass. But then wal-mart turned evil and I had to stop supporting them.

look into 'newsgroups'. time warner and comcast used to give you a free newsgroups subscription..but then with crap like kiddie porn..they shut it all down (for free). Cox cable still offers them (and the NFL network!). Cox i believe is in the Virginia area...you can still get newsgroups if your internet provider does not provide them, but they cost you a monthly fee. They are NOT peer to peer..you will also need a newsgroup reader..such as 'grabit', 'giganews', 'newsleecher' are popular ones. most offer the reader and server for monthly fee ($10/month). Newsgroups are almost 99% virus free, unlike some of the stuff you get on the peer to peer sites. Do a google search for newgroups..it's not difficult to learn, use. Newsgroups are 'anonymous'..if you post a file..you can use a fake email, and since it is not peer to peer, the person you get the file from does not have their pc on.
I have recently heard about someone downloading songs/movie files (torrent) with comcast cable. they were contacted by the cable co, and told if they continue, they would face a fine. this was comcast in central PA. A tech servicing equipment at my place of employment told me the story. It was his teenage son doing it.
I agree..if the FBI wants to know something...they do.Last edited by reedld; 12-18-2010 at 07:47 AM.

i second newsgroups... if you get an account that supports ssh then your connection to that group is encrypted and nobody will be able to see what you download from them.

find a private members only torrent site, such as funfile.
to be a member all you have to do is share a percentage of the time.
members only ones are safer then sites like piratesbay, bit torrent, etc...
reason being is, the public sites are loaded with trackers, members sites do not alot trackers.
Trackers can be used by ISP's and track what and how much you download.
Comcast has actually sent letters to their customers stating "stop using (insert torrent site)"
Torrents are a great way to file share, but be smart.
I used to use pirates bay and isohunt. Both sites have been busted, and are full of trackers. Even kickass torrents is a great site, and easy to use, but the files can be loaded with trackers.
If you dont think trackers are a big deal, then take your chance!!! people are getting caught and fined!

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
This is why I cut my habit down.
I've heard those programs are b.s., that there's no way to hide your IP from people who REALLY want to find it.
I also deleted Demonoid account, after it got shutdown (again) it hasn't fully recovered compared to other sites, so no need for a trail from a site that doesn't have the content it used to.
I also don't seed anymore, for the 2 things a DL every other month. Got netflix for 10 bucks a month, split the cost with GF, so it's only 5. No need to risk anything for 5 dollars a month.
I also use school wireless to DL, so no problems with that. Hell, even the county next to me (the OC, lol) has free wirless everywhere if needs be.
