Need a new ride
Found out about a month ago that we are expecting an addition to our family. The Wife's car now seats 5 and there will be six of us. I told her I need to buy a bike and I could just follow them. Since she didn't like my idea I need to find her a new ride. Something that can seat at least 6 and under $40K. Whats the best deals out there? and when is the best time to buy?

ha ha
Of course performance is always good and close to the top (if not at the top) on MY list. But it is way down on hers. She did tell me yesterday that she did not want a 4 cycl. She is leaning towards the GMC Acadia.
As far as the 40k that would need to be sticker price. We could prob. afford $40,000 but the closer we get to $30,000 the better. I don't like our budget to be tight. I like having money left over for fun.

Get a slightly used vehicle with ~10k miles and save $10K.
Unless you simply NEED that new car smell, which is OK too, since that makes the choices wider for people like me who will absolutely never buy a brand new car.
With only a very few exceptions, nobody makes a BAD car nowadays.
Get one that is barely broken in and save $$$.
Example: I bought my wife's SUV with 17k miles for ~$15k below sticker.
It now has 100k+ and has never given a moment's trouble.

G8 would be crowded with 6. One car seat, one booster seat, 2 teenagers, and 2 adults.
I'm not aganist buying a used car that is a couple of years old. But back in the summer when I was looking for a new truck the used ones were about the same as the new ones. The used ones had more options than what I needed and the new ones had rebates. I ended up getting my new truck at the same price as a 2 year old one.

we've had 8 adults in the vehicle the person in the middle of the middle row sat on a milk carton i'd say there's enough room in the back for adults. its still a great vehicle my mom loves it. we've had one problem with the water not wanting to drain from the sun roof and was going into the head liner got that fixed was a blocked hose. i think there is only one engine option? the 265hp v6 i believe is what it is.
