    Dodge Caliber diesel

I just found out what dodge is doing here in Europe.
Using turbo diesel engines made by VW in their small Caliber.
a shocking finding, even more shocking than using 1.8L engine also not available in USA
    it's got 140hp, 8.8 0-60, 39mpg on the average

BTW there are also jeep liberty (2.8TDI 160hp 22/26mpg) and grand cherokee (3.0TDI 215hp 376tq 19/23mpg) available here

    what do you think?
would you consider any of these as DD in the States at all?

If I am not mistaken, you can get the diesel Jeep Liberty here in the USA.

Love diesel engines in econoboxes. The rental European version of my moms Nissan we had in Scotland got way better mileage, same power, and more torque than hers

ive seen the diesel liberty before in detroit area. normal plate and normal looking liberty except it was a weird dark green color but had a diesel badge instead of the 3.7.

I really don't know why we don't have them here. Really pisses me off as well. It does seem they are slowly trickling into the U.S. I know vw has a few diesels and bmw now has the x5d and 335d both powered by an I-6 diesel producing 265hp and 425ft-lbs, If I had them money I would pick up one of the x5d's. Diesel is the best of both worlds you get good mileage and you have decent performance. I guess I'm just missing something cause it seems like a win win so why not make/allow more of them.

Only available in 2005 and 2006.

New 2007 emissions regulations killed them.
