How to set up folders linking Windows 7 to Windows XP comp.

I recently bought a new desktop with Windows 7. I have been transferring tune files from my old desktop with Windows XP back and forth to my laptop with Windows XP. How do I new set these folders up to work with Windows 7? No problem getting folders set up on both computers desktops but can't get them to communicate.

Transferring tune files via folders is so much faster than emailing from one computer to another. Particularly with multiple tunes.

Create a folder on the Windows 7 machine. Share the folder and give Everyone full control of that folder.

Also make sure both computers are in the same workgroup.

Little more detail maybe? How do you make sure both are same workgroup? I see nothing about work group on my Window XP laptop.

I've ran a search but find no detail instructions how to set these folder up. Know of any?

Have the names of both computers but don't see how to make them communicate. Some how I need to set up a path between both computers.

Don't remember my exact process with the two with Windows XP but I was able to get communiations with them but this Windows 7 is quite different.

Here's how you do it. I may have left out a couple clicks here and there but this is the general idea.

    1. Open new folder on the Windows XP computer (laptop). Give it a name.
    2. Right click sharing & security. Check share this folder on the network. Then click allow network users to change files. Apply, ok.
    3. On the computer with Windows 7 (desktop) open My Computer. Click tools, map network drive, click any letter then type in \\name of computer with Windows XP\name of folder, finish.
    4. From there place an icon of the folder on your desktop for easy access.

You can now transfer multiple files ASAP and not have to send via email.
