I lucked out and found a whole new steering wheel on ebay for $10.
It doesn't matter if you win by an inch, or a mile. Winning is winning

I just got through replacing the clock spring in my column. The radio wires connect through that harness. Is your airbag light on?

No airbag light on. Volume still works, its just the buttons on the left side of the wheel.

maybe it's something by the radio it self, and by the way maybe anyone knows how to connect those buttons to a aftermarket radio?

98 Vert- Check the connection behind the airbag. Unhook your battery, wait 10 minutes, then pull your airbag. There are two screws holding it from the back side. Test the connection to rule out bad buttons. I don't have one, but you should be able to find a schematic for the buttons online.
As for connecting an aftermarket, some radios have an optional input you can buy from the radio manufacturer.

Get a steering wheel control adapter. I just replaced my head unit with an aftermarket and I saw a separate harness from the familiar stereo stuff. I fig it had to be the SWC harness....so I looked one up on-line
I love my SWC and just don't want to be without em

Got mine off Ebay- part differs depending on the make of radio. Very simple to install and set up as long as you have a remote controls wire for your radio. I think I paid around $65 for the SWC adapter.
