    Talking Window Motor

Where is a good place/company to buy a new window motor from and how much should I expect to pay for it? Thanks!

Ebay, $20-40 bucks. Autozone, $75-100. You decide.

AutoZone motors are $54/ea. w/warranty - wouldn't buy from eBay - who ya gonna go to when their $20 motor craps out? I'ts a PITA to change these out - best thing is to go with more expensive/warranted motor and (hopefully) only have to do it once...

Are they any faster than the stock window motors? Thats the beef I have with my windows. The damn motors are slower than mole asses.

They are a lot faster just like when they were new. I have replace my driver twice in a matter of 2 months the first replacement crapped out. I would buy somehwere with a warranty. They are a pain in the ass to change.

1aauto.com has them for $25 and $40. About $10 to ship. I was looking for a windshield wiper motor when I found them.

My driver's side motor is also in its last days. I was looking at this procedure shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html and was wondering if anybody else has followed that procedure changing their window motor? It looks pretty strait forward to me. Are there any surprises or issues that the article misses?

ya have someone else do it but if u gotta seriously watch out that spring loaded armatuer has alot of force behind it that will cut your hand clean off.i gotta quote last time that a window repair place would do it for a 100bucks plus parts so 150 but i elected to do it myself thinking it wasnt so bad next time ill pay the extra 100 rather then risk my fingers.i remember one rivet didnt hold right and the shit shoot out like a bullett.just becarefull

There's no need to even touch the inside window regulator mechanism to replace the motor. In fact, in the instructions they tell you to open the window then block it up with something inside the door to keep it from falling - I blocked the window on the DS - it never even thought of falling. I didn't bother blocking it on the PS and it stayed up thru the entire job.

You will just be reomving the window motor from the mechanism. The instructions I used tell you to drill access holes in the inner door panel directly over where the (3) attachment rivets for the motor are. The pics in the instructions give you a very good idea of where to drill. Once you can see the rivets thru the holes - you drill out the (3) rivets and the motor comes right out (after disconnecting the wires of course).

The new motor goes right back in the same spot - line up the holes and put the supplied bolts in to replace the rivets.

    Done deal...

Yeah, good info, 1QuikWS6. I've got to get this job done before the T-Top weather gets here.

Heres the step by step guide on how to do it right. http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
Hope this helps a little...good luck, it isn't easy but it can be done...I did it by myself in one afternoon. Just make sure you have a few beers around to ease your pain.

Yep, that's the one most of us have used. Just thought they might find the link useful.
