Whats the highest speed you have done in a car?
Title pretty much says it all. I got my SS up to 135 one time but was afrade to go any faster. Havent driven past 85 in my car since and I plan on keeping it that way. Dont want to risk ticket/serious injury/death/ etc.

I hit over 170 in my C5 once, and hit over 160 a bunch.
I pegged the speedometer in both of my LS1 Z28's, and my Mach 1.
We have a 5 mile long straightaway south of my neighborhood with no intersecting roads, and no people. It only has saltwater marsh on each side.
Edit-
For whatever reason, the Z28's felt more stable at high speed than the C5. Maybe becasue the road is a little rough, and the Vette is tighter sprung.
The Mach 1 at 150 felt like I was sitting in a Radio Flyer wagon and was being pulled at 200 by that M6 in the vid. I guess it is the Circa 1978 suspension geometry and higher profile... It wasn't stable at all.Last edited by jking; 02-28-2006 at 05:18 PM.

I took the SS up to just past the 155 mark but only once. It was a thrill!
Late one night, I drove 150 miles at about 120 mph sustained. That was fun.
I had a tailgater on the interstate and it took about 10 miles at 135 mph in order to shake him.
I passed a cop in the medium on the interstate once, doing 140. He flipped on the lights and instead of stopping, I nailed and made it home without getting caught.
Typically, I drive the speed limit which is a bit slower than the normal flow of traffic. I just sit back and relax, knowing what the car can do.

There is a road here that goes through a pumpkin patch and is extremely deserted and straight. It is also a bit raised from the ground so you don't have deer to worry about. Me and my friends go out there and race or go WOT every now and then for fun. I guess the fastest I've gone is 166 or so based on how many RPMs I was pulling in 5th gear.

Black- 2001 Camaro Z28
Shift light is set at 5800 RPM. Stayed in it for about 30 seconds after I saw the light come on. I was in 5th gear. This was with stock sized tires and 3.42s out back.

145 with the T-Tops off. Car makes a loud sucking noise full throttle above about 110.
I've been 62 in a Suzuki Samauri on 31's with two people, a high lift jack and a cooler in it. And that was damn impressive.
