need clarification: What would you do?
I went to my def. driving class yesterday and learned that in arizona, if there is a school bus that is stopped on the other side of the road, and there is a solid meadian ( with burbs, trees, ect), that you need not stop. Well for two mornings now there's been a school bus situation like this. But, the bus is near the median. I dont want to do something wrong and be fined or get my liscense suspended. I went through once because I rememberd this law, but then thought about the bus sitting near the median. It's just got me paranoid now. I'm not gonna go through again because it seems kind of unclear. What would you guys do? Here's the statute:
The driver of a vehicle on a highway with separate roadways need not stop on meeting or passing a school bus that is:
1. On a different roadway.
2. On a controlled access highway and the school bus is stopped in a loading zone that is a part of or adjacent to the highway and where pedestrians are not permitted to cross the roadway.
F. For the purposes of subsection E, a lane or group of lanes on either side of a two-way left turn lane is not considered a separate roadway.
I dont want to do something wrong, because they've got hefty fines upwards of $1G and liscense suspension.

In Florida, if a school bus is on the other side & separated by a median 10ft wide or more, it's legal tp pass......so I'd pass while driving at a normal rate of speed

I think you're trying too hard..... if there's anyway possible a kid could come squirting out in front of me I stop. No matter what the law says. Kids don't know laws and who knows if one pops out and dashes across the road because they're going to a friends house or playing chase or something. If you stop there's zero % chance you'll run over and kill a kid.
