    Fuel pump replacment

Hi all. I'm starting to have a whining fuel pump when I drive for about an hour or so. I tried using UCL but no luck. I read and heard that this is a sign that the pump is getting close to the end of its life. Question, Does anyone found a replacement pump that fits without having to buy the whole thing with the module, etc? I have been told that it can be done but I need to find a new fuel pump that matches the pressure. What will that pressure be?

Anyone been sucessful with this and which pump you use? Thanks.

Walbro sells a kit that many members use with great success. The in tank kit replaces the the stock pump.

Is it better to replace the fuel pump with the original one or do the walbro modification? Anyone that has the walbro fuel pump in it, Have you had any issues as far as fuel level? or Does it works as a regular fuel pump? Thanks.

I've never heard that if it whines its going bad.. I don't think I've ever had one that did'nt whine.. My new pump in the 01 whines louder than my stock one which used to whine too since the day I got it with 26k-ish on the clock..

awesome thanks for the input. I have the car for almost 2 years now and I was just thinking about replacing the pump because of how old is it and the whinning. So you are saying that the walbro pumps whine also? how loud? can you hear it inside the car? I dont think I have any mods in the car besides the borla exhaust, if I decide to replace the fuel pump do you recommend the racetronix kit or the GM stock type? Thanks.

The Racetronix Plug & Play kit is one of the best kit. A bit expensive but worth it. I run the twin set-up.

I honestly can't remember the make of pump I baught. I buy car parts and such like a chain smoker buys cigarettes But I do remeber it being around 400-500 for the complete unit. Took me 3 hours start to finish to drop the tank and install the new one.. But that's because I refuse to cut my car. Some folks cut a "trap" door in their floor above the pump so not to have to drop the tank.. I have all the right tools for the job and can't see making a spot that will just rust out later..

another vote for racetronix.....cheaper than a stock replacement and the instructions that come with it are extremely detailed.
