This might be a stupid question, but i just bought my first t-a last night. It is anpewter air t/a with flowmaster exhaust, hurst shifter, chrome rims etc.
Anyway I cannot find the switch to turn off the traction control, do all 01 ta's have it? Thanks!

It would be by the cig lighter, unless your car doesn't have it, then there would be a little compartment there

It's an option. If you can't find it, I doubt you have it.

thanks
Cool thanks for everyone's input. i don't have it. There isn't anyway to install that in if you don't have it is there? Just curious.

I never realized that t/as have to lose the little compartment for TCS, that kinda stinks. No offence though I love t/as, your cars look like they could kick ours cars asses just by rolling up to them lol

nice
sweet....
thanks for the compliment! I am posting pics right about now in the member's ride's forum. so i guess the traction control doesn't help out in rain or anything? mine is actually my new daily driver unless i know there will be bad weather so i thought if i could get it maybe i should....what do you all think?
by ther way i really don't care about my little compartment

If you're going to be driving in rain or snow then yes you probably want it. I dunno how much it would be to have it installed though. Sounds like the cost might outweigh the benefit. I'm not sure though.

I wouldn't worry about installing it on your car. I've never had any traction problem in the rain, unless you gun it.

Pewter- 2001 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
My first one had it and I hated it. Everytime I pulled out in the rain and gunned it I was afraid of getting rear-ended or I looked like an ass stabbing the gas again.....

Silver- 2002 T/A
Don't need trac. control
My first TA was a '99, and it had "traction control." It didn't really control traction - it controlled acceleration! It just cut the throttle anytime it detected a hint of wheelspin. So I would hit the gas, the car would fall on its' face, then I would turn off the trac. control. Sucked pretty bad. It doesn't even work very well. Besides, the whole reason you own a TA is so you can sling gravel, snow, rain water, asphalt, tar, and anything else that gets under the tires.
Light 'em up man!
Chris

i like the option of having it, but i do turn it off alot
while cruising in the rain i know its on and it keeps me from getting on the gas barely at all. its peace of mind for me just to have it available.

A nice option
I wouldn't bother to install one either but it is nice, as stated above, in inclement weather. My window sticker for my '01 T/A says it cost $450.00. Ouch!

Im not a real big fan of losing my lil cigarette compartment like I had in my '00 z28 but hey what are you gonna do. My T/A suits me just fine. I do wish the tracion control switch was around the same area as the Camaros. I also hate the TCS light! I wish I knew how to switch it around to where the light came on when the TCS was on since mine rarely is

Pewter- Y2K WS6
Honestly in my experience traction control is absolutely worthless.... learn how to steer and control your car then the traction control just gets in the way. I have it on my G6 and have driven with it in many other front wheel drive cars it has hurt me every time i left it on (sucks all the power makes you look like a fool ) sometimes you still need the wheels to move and they will catch something as your spinning (wet pavement comes to mind) I won't have traction control if i can get a vehicle without it.

Black/Black- 2000 Trans Am WS6 A4
I dunno, I pretty much leave the traction control on at all times... my tires are VERY worn, from the previous owner... with the TCS on, I can stick kick ass... but with it off, I will easily burn the tires into oblivion...
and I drove it in some icey weather a month ago, and the TCS was wonderful... I turned it off just to see.. and it was so easy to get the car sideways...
actually, even in rain, it's incredibly easy to get it sideways... I just figure, if you aren't messin' around, leave the TCS on...
that being said, if my WS6 didn't come with it, I wouldn't go through the trouble of installing it... but it's nice to have... what would be nice, is a switch so you could have it disabled all the time, if you didn't wanna have to keep turning if off when you started your car...
