it aint cheap to do mold remediation, moisture tends to move up if its starting in your basement. Also the mold is a symptom of your real problem. Water is getting in some where, or pooling in the yard with improper drainage which would cause the mold. So the mold would need to be removed and the problem thats causing the mold fixed. That is something that should definitely fixed by the seller or they should drop a load of money off the price. Wont be cheap

I would have someone in your area that is licensed for mold removal come give you an estimate. Like said above water is getting in somewhere. There could be more hidden damage especially with stucco. A small crack can cause a lot of problems. Ever see the money pit?

nice looking house. Although I did have to laugh at the price, it amazes me what houses go for in the mid west. I live on the eat coast and a house like that with even a small amount of mold damage would be going for 500,000-600,000. You get so much more for your money out there. 132,000 out here wont even get you a townhouse with a one car garage. Great looking house I hope it works out for you.

considering it went for 550k in 03 and is at 132k now, I would think the mold is most likely pretty bad. Also being at that price I would find it hard to believe that they would go down a lot further. 80k seems to low to me, but you can always try, they can always come back with a counter offer. You never know people get desperate and sell low sometimes.

also regardless of the mold.....that is a huge price change.....just doesnt seem right to me. I would definitely try to get as much info on the house as possible. Try to find the realtor that sold it last and find out why the price dropped so much. If the mold was that bad then, did someone try to fix it and it didnt work? If thats the case and its never been fix you may not want to deal with this house.

Find out what kind of mold it is. Certain kinds of mold are a lot more expensive to get rid of than others. Just due to how much more of a health risk they are. Some types of mold will actually deem a house uninhabitable due to the toxic spores they release.

Black mold often results in the house being worthless and having to be knocked down. Heres an idea, why dont you actually pick up a phone book and get a professional to write you an estimate lol
