question on heads
what would be the best heads to compliment a custom grind cam of these specs 230/227 591/571 112. I have been having a problem with making a decision on a head and cam and decided I wanted to go with that size cam now for the heads?

Trickflow or afr
I know that wasn't the answer you were looking for.
ported milled 5.3's 2.02 intake 1.6 exhaust.

That's what I used... 5.3 heads, 2.02 / 1.6 valves, and ported the hell out of them !!!
My stock heads did OK after they were ported & milled.

So that is the best route for heads, and how much would they set me back I am trying to figure out how much I will be spending on all of this before I get home. So I can have a knowledge on what to expect or the range I will be paying if you get what I mean.

The biggest savings I had, was porting them myself. I only have about 750.00 assembled. Machine shop costed around 350 to open the seats & valve job. found good deals on ebay for the 2.02 / 1.6 valves & comp 918 springs.
You might want to keep checking LS1Tech's classified section for a good deal also.
Here's a ARF Heads search.

Reverse splits rarely work well, and almost never perform optimally on an LS1. Get the heads FIRST, then compliment it with the cam, not the other way around.

See that is the problem I wont know what kind of cam to go off of just because the heads, that is why I needed a little bit of explaining here.

haha dont worry money wise cause I will have the shop be the one installing the whole set up I dont have a place to do such things. I should have near 20 grand when I get home thats why I am building the t/a so I want a good set up here, I also want a cam with the 112 lsa also. But it will be daily driven keep in mind.

Your best bet would probably be the TrickFlow 215cc CNC heads or AFR 205cc CNC heads, in that order. As far as the cam goes, you'll need to know the vehicle weight, gearing, intake and exhaust setup, tuner capabilities and your desired/undesired drivability characteristics, along with lots of other smaller variables.

gearing stock 3.42 intake and tb will be a 92 fast and exhaust I cant figure out if I wanna run a y pipe with electric cut outs or the texas speed x pipe. I am going to see how long I can run it on the stock rear before it gives on me cause I cant decide for a 12 bolt or 9 I am leaning more towards the 9 but I have been hearing alot of problems about both leaking and what not.
