TCF Bank is just disgusting.

Ok guys here goes. I used to bank with TCF bank. For several years I had a checking and savings account with them. One day I decided to have my, "city payroll check" cashed on the spot and they refused to cash it due to not having enough in my checking account to cover it. I was angry about that 1. I'm a customer. 2. City payroll check.
I went across the street to Chase bank knowing I'm not a customer and they cashed my city payroll check for free. I gave the teller a 20.00 tip. I went back acrossed the street and canceled my accounts with TCF the junk bank.
My conclusion: TCF bank unprofessional bank.

So recently I collected my tenants check. One a cashiers check from bank of America and the other from TCF bank. Bank of America cashed their cashier's check with my proper I.D. And my thumb print. I went across the street to Tcf Bank with my "Tcf cashier's check". The bank teller refuse to cash it and informed me that they don't cash checks over 250.00. I informed him that this is a cashier's check and asked for a supervisor. The supervisor stated to me the same information. I asked to see the rule and the supervisor copied a page out of Tcf rule book. That rule stated personal checks won't be cashed over 250.00. I asked the supervisor could he read. He also said that only the main branch that was extremely far from me. This was on a Saturday afternoon and my bank closed at 12:00pm. That Tcf main branch on a Saturday closed at 12:00pm also.
Monday came and I could have just cashed It at my bank but I went to the main branch. The main branch cashed it and also told me that branch I was at could have cashed the check. Well I was livid. I went back to that Tcf bank to talk with the branch manager to inform her of what happened. She said she would talk to the supervisor about his mistake. But in my mind the supervisor should have known this rule without reading it. Isn't he a supervisor because if his intelligence. That's crap. He was unprofessional because he stated to multiple times that he was a supervisor. Here this guy giving me wrong information plus not comprehending a 6th grade reading level.
My opinion...Don't take your money to TCf bank.

I don't use banks. I keep all my money buried.

So what if I wear an eye-patch when I need to get some more? Doesn't hurt nobody.

Anyway, I use a credit union. In dealing with Chase, Wells Fargo and several other regional banks, I haven't found any "bank" that treats me as well as my credit union does.

i like Wachovia.they have been good to me. never heard of TCF,must not be any of those in Alabama.

state employees credit union love it and wont never go back to another bank again. bank of america screwed me I had a savings account only with them and I withdrew like 20 bucks out of a atm and they charged me 160 for an overwithdraw I went and asked them about it and they couldnt give me no information about why or how it happend. And they still wouldnt refund me so i told them they could go screw themselfs pulled all my money out and went straight to the credit union and opened an account.

Maybe your expectation of service is not as high as mine.
I was a customer and their service is terrible. If you are happy stay with them.

I belong to Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union and they are the BEST!!!! Always pleasant and bend over backwards to help. I also have some dealings with Bank of America and they SUCK!!!!! Rude, unyielding and uncooperative. I HATE BOA!
