how well does the IRS on the C5s hold up to slicks
I dont have much experience with IRS, I have raced a few of my mustangs before and had 0 issues with slicks, I know for the gm 10 bolts its a different story. I have also seen my fair share of IRS cobras destroy there rear ends cuz they suck ass when you start hooking, so what about the vettes? I was going to get some M/T et streets for it and try it out at the track when its done, bad idea?

I've been wondring the same thing about the GTO's.
I don't know how close or different the two rears are, but I know Horrop has a reinforced diff cover for the GTO that's suppossed to keep flex down, there are also upgraded axle stubs available.
you might want to search for a vette racing club to get more first hand knowledge

to full slicks they do ok to due to more sidewall flex. the drag radials are not so forgiving, I have seen them break the shaft and pull apart on the street. We sell braces that tie the diff. to the tranny and avoid the braking. The short shaft is not bad at all to break, the long on is bad to break which usually tears the diff. and tranny along with it.
The upgrades on the Vette are well worth it to me.
the GTO is hit and miss. we are upgrading one now that has a TVS 1900 with cam. the rear inner stubs, drivshaft, yokes, halfshafts and outer stubs.
This car is 600 rwhp and needs it IMHO. What power levels you all looking at?
Thanks,
Mark

I would recommend the stubs and halfshafts for you. The GTO is heavy and finds weak links rather easy.
Thanks,
Mark
