is the frequency of the noise equal to axle rotation or drive shaft, is it the same in turns and going straight. same accelerating, coasting, decelerating?

im not quite sure how to tell if its the frequency of the axle or the driveshaft. im pretty sure its the axle. it decellerates when i slow down.. faster when i speed up.... and not quite sure but i think it gets a little louder when i sway to the right like changing lanes at highway speed.

Why dont you try pin pointing this noise down since you dont seem to have for sure answer to it. Get car, safely, in the air. Remove DS. Start and run car. Theres one. Re-install DS, have a buddy run car slowly with wheels off the ground and listen. Take your rear end cover off and check things out. It might be a U-joint, might be the weak 10 bolt. Thats about all someone over the e-web can do on a vague sound. Just gotta start with the simple stuff, you hear the sound... so you have the best guess.

If it changes when you sway from side to side but not netween accelerating and decelerating it could likely be the axle bearing. Get the rear up in the air and run the wheels - see if you can pinpoint which axle it's coming from.

Sounds like an old "Platters" tune from the '50's.
