Bypass the DVD player warning screen
ok I had a dvd player installed in my car by a shop. They had to run a switch to turn on and off for the dvd player to work. By default it's illegal to drive and have a dvd playing, so it goes to this blue warning screen. They said to tap the screen and play with the switch. just recently it stopped working. How do I bypass this switch to just have the dvd player work?

Do you have the manual? Some have a wire that is supposed to go to the e-brake, then you can just ground it. Some have a sequence of e-brake and foot brake to get it on.

The dvd player has a constant ground through the wire harness and then requires an additional ground once the unit is powered up. The switch should be in the off position until the unit is powered up and then flip the switch on and if this procedure does not work then you need to check the switch by unplugging it the turn on the head unit then connect the two leads together and if this does not work you need to follow the leads to see if the ground came off. good luck

on the phase linear dvd player you hold 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 on the remote until you hear a beep from each. Not sure if it'll work for yours...worth a shot

These methods have worked on a variety of Dual DVD systems (mainly XDVD8181, also XDVD710), unsuprisingly, since Dual stated to me that most installations have the same codes.
WARNING! It is usually ILLEGAL and most of all UNSAFE to drive while watching video. I only watch video while parked, and I suggest you do the same. This is for demonstration purposes only, if you use these codes, you do so at your own risk.
STEP ONE. Ground the E-Brake wire.
No matter which method you use, you must ground the brake detection wire. I suggest you tap it into the ground wire on your wiring harness (ensures a good ground).
1. FACTORY RESET METHOD (Temporary)
(This isn't the most effective, but it is the easiest to try, so it's worth a shot since it apparently works on some units.)
** Go to the Menu
** Get to the Settings Menu
** Select <yes> to Reset to Factory Settings.

Have recently heard complaints of this method not being permanent, as this is needed everytime they want to watch a DVD. Also, radio and screen angle presets are lost.
----------------
2. AUDIO CD METHOD (Permanent)
** Insert Audio CD
** Press PLAY
** Press STOP twice on remote
** Enter 26604 on remote
** Press ENTER
** Take out Audio CD and Insert a DVD

3. DVD METHOD (Permanent)
** Insert a DVD
** Let it play until you hear sound
** Press STOP twice on remote
** Enter 26604
** Press ENTER

The blue warning screen should immediately go away after pressing the last digit of "26604." Still press ENTER as a precaution.
Hope this helps a little.
