monsoon amp question
does the monsoon amp send the same signal to the sail panels as it does to the front mids? for clarification, is it:
2 Lefts and 2 Rights
~or~
FR/FL
RR/RL
second question, what amp is good to replace the stocker and will work with the stock HU??

You would need to get a plug in harness to give you some rca outs or wire in a converter to give some rca outs if you wanted to add a amp. I had a line level to rca converter running off my stock HU for awhile, then added a Kenwood later. Sounded pretty good with the line level converter, but sounds much better with the Kenwoods 5 volt outs. Trying to figure out which wires go where from the Monsoon amp would be more of pain than rewiring the car. You would want new speakers if your adding more power too and the stock wiring is not very big, so I wouldn't do it even if it could be done.
I know the front door woofers work off the F/L and F/R, because when I tested the new infinity's I set the fader to the front and tested the L and R. Now the sailpanel subs I am not positive about, but when I tested my far rear Pioneer 4inch to adjust the freq going to them I noticed the sub didn't move much even on real low bass songs, I also noticed the same thing when I tried only the front speakers, but the subs moved more when the front and rear channel was centered, so it may be that the subs are run together with the front and rear channels and the far rear 4inch are the rear channel only. I may be wrong, but seems logical the subs wouldn't be channel specific, since they don't put out any highs.Last edited by rotwiler; 02-08-2006 at 10:26 PM.

The stock Monsoon amp is near the spare tire, you need to look at the hump area and there should be a black plastic cover over the amp. It is right above the area the stock jack is. It isn't actually right next to the spare tire.

The POS Monsoon amp is located forward of the spare tire. It's mounted to a plastic plate above the rear wheel and is located on the fender side of the plate.

I kinda doubt that is an amp. An amp is too big to hide behind the kick panels. What you found is probably a crossover from a previous installation. Are you the car's original owner?

i'm going back to my original question: does the monsoon amp send the same signal to the front mid bass, as it does to the sail panels or do the sails get a lower frequency?
