"Allingham, who was the world's oldest man when he died Saturday at 113, attributed his remarkable longevity to "cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women."
I am so going to die young...

The record is going to be broken but it will be like the homerun record in baseball, there should be an asterisk after it in the future. With modern medicine, I wouldn't be surprised to see people hit 130 on occasion.
Why they would want to I don't know.
I mean, I was born in 74 and remember how nice this country was in the 80s even. I turn 35 and this country is in the shitter. If this keeps up who would want to live another hundred years like that?
Well, I do like to bitch so that would be something.

I wish I could've met him before he died. I'm a history major in college and could probably listen to a guy like that for days.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
I turned 30 in the middle of the 80's.....
The way I acted and treated myself as a young man (sex and drugs and rock 'n roll - and lot's of it!) I never thought I'd get this old.

I'd say the guy was lucky he even survived WWI. The British had the highest sigle day losses in the war with little or no groung gained. Some of the British artillary units were terrible durring WWI. During One particular battle they fired volley after volley of artillary rounds totally unaimed or off target, thinking this would cause a German retreat. Sadly it did not. The German commanders just simply pulled back out of the British artillery fire and waited it out. After days, (YES days) of firing @ nothing, and thinking the Germans had retreated they made their move nearly arm in arm in full daylight. Sadly the Germans were waiting and cut the British to peices. Even as the British were trying to retreat. Thousands of british soldiers died in the battle and the nearly failed retreat. Photos of the after math shown dead English soldiers as far as the eye could see.

July 1, 1916 - The British Army suffers the worst single-day death toll in its history as 18,800 soldiers are killed on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. The losses come as 13 attacking divisions encounter German defenses that are still intact despite the seven-day bombardment designed to knock them out. The British also attack in broad daylight, advancing in lines shoulder-to-shoulder only to be systematically mowed down by German machine-gunners. The Somme offensive quickly becomes a battle of attrition as British and French troops make marginal gains against the Germans but repeatedly fail to break through the entire Front as planned.
