    Engine noise

Question... Can synthetic oil make your engine diifferent? I switching to fully synthetic oil in the last 4 oil changes. I am the second owner of the car and im not sure if the have any internal engine work done to it. The only thing i can see that they add up was the Borla exhaust system and the air lid. I'm not sure if they used regular oil or synthetic oil before i own it.

The reason I ask is that in the last month or so when i'm driving and i WOT my TA I hear knocking noise from the engine. It sounds almost like when you put low octane gas in an engine. I have always put 93 octane gas in it. I'm just wondering if this is normal or could be a sign of something that I need to address ASAP. The car has almost 90k miles on it. Thanks.

Could still be bad gas. Guess you don't have any tuning software to pull a little timing out ?

Need to get a second opinion from someone local... If you were closer, I'd want to ride in it to hear the noise. If it is pinging, the knock sensors should be retarding the timing it self, so you should get it checked. Good Luck !

The pcm will record missfires so you can have it scanned and see if its a missfire. Do you have power loss like you get to a certain RPM and the car feels like it falls flat on the top end?
