Cam size help
Alright, i have the mod crazys going on. Just got my Yank 3000 stall in yesterday, and i dont wanna stop there. Ok so my current setup is a 2002 Camaro SS A4. I have the stock 241 heads, and i need to know what my max lift is, so i can go from there. What cam would yall suggest? I dont wanna have to buy new springs or anything like that, just the cam a timing chain, etc.
Car mods with the cam will be Stock besides the Yank 3000, LT's and thats about it. Im on stock tranny and rear. I dont wanna go big like a MS3 or T rex. Just something small, or the biggest i can SAFELY go with stock spring and lifters. Thank you.2002 Camaro SS A4 - SLP# 2951 l MS4 l LT's w/ORY l F.A.S.T 78 & TB l Borla l Cutout l CME l TCI 3500 l 3.23's l !emissions l !sway

Biggest you can go with stock springs is the stock cam.
370 CI - Twin 6766 Turbo - Jakes stage 5 4L80E - MWC 9" - Holley Dominator

You sure? Cause over 5 ppl i know locally told me i can go with something.. "which i cant remember" and not worry about the lifter and springs. They all work on these cars and have cam experience. Would ask them but don't see em much.

You have everything mixed up. The LAST thing you want with any different cam (hell with a stock cam) is those stock valve springs. When the valve drops and tinkers around inside your cylinder youll understand why.
just the cam a timing chain, etc.
Valve springs
Seals
Push rods
timing chain (set)
Tune
Are you doing the swap yourself? If so, add about 5-6 more little etc's on there.

So what? No cam for you then? Springs are cheap.

Hi po, that means more labor cost. Something i dont have. I have a buddy that does my work on my car, he is a master tech, and has a hell of a camaro! I simply dont have the time/tools/knowledge/place to do it. lol i learn each time watching him.. but to go back on track.. i dont want a ms3 or anything big. Something i can hear and feel a difference. Something that will go nicely with my 3000 stall. Any suggestions then?

Well then, I suggest waiting. You can call COMP up or Cam Motion and ask them for some ideas. but Im pretty sure they will tell you the same thing. Save some more money and buy a cam package.

you do need springs for any cam swap, our stock springs are barely good enough for the stock cams.
if money is your major concern, rhe average cam costs around $300-$400. so with that budget in mind, go on ebay and search (ls1 cam) look for (hr284 cam grind "fresh copy")
its the cam I'm running 220/224 .580/.590 112lsa. you have a choice of 112,114, or 116lsa (the 112lsa will have a nice choppy idle)
its not the biggest cam out there, but has very good street manners and gives a good bump in power all the way to red line.
$115 +$17 shipping. with the money you save on the cam you can buy a set of comp 918 springs.
I'm planning on going with a big cam (thanks to Hi-po) late this winter, but at that point my car will not be a daily driver.
