Blue GMC Canyon- trans ams gone now
turbo 4's or more advanced 6 bangers if we're lucky. and enjoy the camaro while it (and GM) last. it'll probably be gone just as quick as the new GTO was. maybe it'll last 5 or 6 years if GM makes enough profit to build themselves the next big thing in hybrid technology.

Isn't this new proposal a 35.5 mpg avg. of the companies lineup. I don't think we'd have to worry too much. If the volt ever hits the road, that would really bump up the average. The Z28 could get 15 mpg, but if the rest of gm's line up gets 40mpg, it'd average out ok.
Besides if they can't meet the standard, they can probably still make the cars, but guess who will end up paying the fee. Oh that'd be us again, another form of taxation, thank you very much.
Thank the government, there are too many fuckin forms of taxation, it's ridiculous. I wonder how many people actually know we are taxed on gasoline? Then paying for taxes on a used vehicle...ok i'll stop now

you sure you even know what a GTO is???
None of then newer ones were 4 door. 2 door coupes only. The original GTO was a Tempest with a big motor. The tempest was a family car....not a muscle car. It wasn't a muscle car until GM took a family car and stuffed a big v8 in it. Sound familiar?? Kinda sounds like the new GTO doesn't it?

Pewter- 2001 Camaro Z28 M6
just another way that get democrats and obama closer to a socialist government and blinded dictatorship. Control the companies and pass the costs to the consumers, while claiming its better for the people and the planet.

Repost galore and all the companies knew this would happen sooner or later and DID NOTHING about trying to get better mpg out of cars. If a z06 can get 25mpg out of a 500+hp engine, im pretty sure they could try and make it so cars with less power could get double that, it isn't rocket science here... And shouldn't this be in the political forum?

it is rocket science to a degree. HP is not the only factor in mpg necessarily. Drag coefficients and weight play just as much as power into the equation. Are you willing to pay $70k for a 110HP 2 seater that gets 60mpg or would you pay that $70k for a z06 that gets 25mpg? We can't lay all the blame on the auto makers. They weren't the people buying the 2 ton SUV tanks the last 10-15 years.....the public demanded it so they supplied it. How many supersize imported SUV's are out there? Not many really yet I see tons of those things on the roads. The people wanted them so the big 3 made them. Then when the gas prices went up it was the big 3's fault for building them all of the sudden. It's like the parent of a fat kid that blames the candy makers.
