Help with Monsoon System in 1999 Z
So I have a few questions on the monsoon system in my 1999 Z28. I recently had the front speakers replaced because the left one blew out (which I guess is a common problem). Although the new ones sound excellent (they are pioneer), it seems like the amp somehow got disabled to them because I can hear the back speakers much clearer and louder than the fronts! Maybe the ohms dont match? Anyone ever heard of anything like that? I will be replacing the head unit with a new alpine cd player when I recieve it in the mail, but I was just curious. Thanks.

P.S. Should the new Alpine unit sound better than the Monsoon system did at full power? (New Alpine is 60w X4. Thanks.

If you go to the Stereo and Electronics section of the forum you can read up on your problem. You need to replace the front speakers with Infinitys. That section will tell you everything you need to know!

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
IIRC, Monsoon uses a 1 ohm speaker.

fronts are 2ohm and you replaced it with a 4 ohm so now it is asking for half of the power from the amp as the back speakers

I'd go with the Alpine sounding better. Years ago they used to be one of the better head units. Dont know now though. But you can take that monsoon and throw it against the wall cause it's junk in my opy! I would'nt even mess with the monsoontobebroken! LOL But it's up to you. Good luck!
