RAAAAWR Cabot Deck stain FAILED
Last year I spent many back breaking hours restaining my deck. I used all Cabot stain products (owned by ValSpar Paint) and after 4 months it turned to shit.
Started in early october, using their stain remover/bleacher + neutralizer 2 step process then clean it all off with a pressure washer. I wated 2 weeks to apply 5 gallons of stain @ $27/gal. It turned out great....at first. But 4 months later the horizontal surfaces faded and look terrible. I've called them and they basically told me it was my fault and all they're willing to do is send me a gallon for my trouble. Great fucking service...assholes.
Anyone looking to do this work, I highly suggest going elsewhere. Please do me a favor and relay this message to anyone you know.Last edited by third_shift|studios; 04-05-2009 at 06:02 AM.

How did you prep the deck before the application?

Sorry about your deck though..

Nice!
Ps.I see Ohio houses have the same problem as houses in PA.LOL neighbors house leans one way, and the hot tub leans the other.LOLLast edited by Smittro; 04-05-2009 at 01:07 PM.

OK, DIY guys If i buy new stain and go over the deck then do a sealer-will it stop it, or will it continue to worsen under the new stuff?
Should i strip the deck surfaces again? (the vertical wood is still in good shape)
