Collectors Edition Yellow- 2002 Pontiac Trans AM WS6
In the mood to buy today...Which drag radial should i buy?
Ok i'm ordering today and i can decide between 2 drag radials for my sort of DD...
Here's what i'm looking at:
315/35/17VR Nitto NT 555r Drag Radials
Treadwear 100
Traction A
Temperature A
315/35/17VR BFG G-Force TA Drag Radials
Treadwear 00 <---- Yay no treadlife
Traction B
Temperature C
Which one's do you think i should get??? And which tire do you think i will hook better with???
My original choice was the nitto's but if someone can convince me otherwise then i'll switch...
Also remember that this car is NOT a drag only car i do use this car daily but VERY short distances!!!!!

Treadwear and drag radial should really not be used in the same sentence. I prefer these: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...et_radial.html
I don't understand why you would buy a drag radial for a car with over 400 ponies and base your decision on treadware? Even the BFG's will have trouble hooking up and the Nittos will be worse.2002 Street ET Champion New England Dragway

I think he is looking at driveability...many on MT's have gone "side of the highway drifitng" with the slightest hint of rain or wet surfaces versus the streetability of a Nitto DR....I leave my Nitto's on all the time.....anyway that is how I took his statement....MT's are great DR's......I just feel the Nitto's handle road driving as well as the track better....I've run both on the GTO....

I have the MT street radials already... and yes i want the nittos for driveability and so i dont go drifting sideways when it drizzles!!! I use the M/T for the track and serious races on the street but for just crusin around and occasional playing i'll use the nittos... Granted i will have over 400 hp but i have all the supporting suspension mods and with the nittos i sould grab fairly decent.. Obviously nothing like that of the M/T but i like the 315's and i like that i'll have much better dry traction than that of a conventional street tire!

Ahhhhhhh. I just have never heard of someone buying drag radials for mostly street use. What you siad makes sense. Go for the Nitto's.

i did. my car is a fair weather car. while i do get in a dozen launches plus per year at the track, the 2000 miles i put on every year have been on the nittos.

Well now lets be fair and accurate here....I have one helluva lot more than 400RWHP and launch like a rocket on Nitto's...there is alot more to launching and getting those magic 60' times than DR's....if a car is properly set up either one will work for you....he is talking about driving it to the track and back...going to the get groceries and back...without having to take wheels off and put others on and Nitto is the DR to accomplish that....but to say anything past 350 to the wheels and Nittos dont work is unfortunate at best....but as always here on the internet....do whatever you wish...

I would go with the BFGs' too, but probably BFG KDW's if you are going to run them all the time. A buddy of mine has them on his Z06 and they hook very well and get great wet/dry traction. just my .02

Dunno i've heard ALOT of good things about the nittos and not much else about the BFG.... I DO however have all the supporting suspension mods to help with putting the power to the pavement so i think that the suspension combined with driving and thoes Nitto's should help a great deal... .02

THere was one guy on here got over 20k on his BFG's D/R's. No matter what kind of DR you run suspension is the key to hooking.

To hook they need to be hot there not gonna hook cold no matter what kind of tire you have on there.

I'm not saying anyone in specific doesn't know how to launch their car or setup their suspension just making a general statement!
