My 93-97 Trans Am Project
In addition to putting in an LS1 or LS2, here's the cosmetic ideas for my project.
First, I'm going to try to get my hands on a 93-97 ws6, formula or trans am (I'm looking, if anyone knows anyone selling, let me know!!)
I saw the 98-02 style ram air hood on an LT1 trans am and I fell in love with it.
So in addition to that hood, I also looked at the wings west body kit. I liked it because it incorporates a nice retro look and doesn't go over the top or ricey.
Lastly, I'm planning on incorporating the breathless performance fixed headlights with halos, as well as modding in some angel eyes. (This will be unpopular, but i like it)
All of that with a super gloss black or dark blue and white stripes on the ram air hood.
I made a terrible photoshop of the final result, and it looks very good to me. I found a picture of a 97 with the hood i want and the wings west kit.
That along with some personal touches, so what do you guys think?

no body kit.....no stripes.....lights look good, just get rims and lower it

please don't do any of that. don't give me nightmares about my '95 TA project car that im currently doing...
LS style hoods belong on LS body styled cars. just like vette rims belong on vettes and not f-bodies. you don't see many sharp, clean looking LT cars on the road and too many LS bodied cars. don't mix the two. please...also, the integrated headlights have been known to have poor lighting quality. invest in HIDs for roughly the same amount spent on that flush headlight conversion...
go dark blue and instead of white stripes, go a matte/flat black vinyl stripes. that would look sharp...
it took me long enough to find a 6spd coupe car, to find an OEM LT1 ram air hood and air box, etc...
regardless of what direction you go, enjoy your project car, cause that's what it's all about. in the end it's what matters to you, not our opinions...Last edited by SSwt00SS; 03-18-2009 at 05:54 PM.

What ram-air hood would look better besides stock (I hate the stock one!)?

i've never heard anyone say that they did not like the Ram Air hood on the Ws6's and Firehawks. to me that is the perfect amount of aggressiveness for the car. ive always liked the looks of TA's w/the R.A. hood...
of course that's my opinion. no other hood looks right on the car to me...

well you are wanting to put a factory ram air hood just on the older model lol
its your car man, but i think the ls1 r/a hood looks alright on there, it just seems that the front end of the lt1 is to pointed for that hood idk.. either way its not gonna be ugly ya know.

yea thats it, but theres a way better picture amongst the internet some where lol.. is that a better pic of the hood for you since its on a silver car, or no?
some blackbird stripes would make the hood look way better IMO

nascarartist20 from FBO was kind enough to make some GOOD photoshops of the car, to replace my lame attempt.
He also took the liberty of making some stripe variations as well as showing how it would look with the stock lights closed.
The rest of my post from over there:
This looks really is what I wanted. The 98-02 have an aggressive look (it looks like it will literally ride over, kick your ass, and then steal your girlfriend) but that wasn't what I was looking for.
This has a tint of aggressiveness, but it mainly has more of a sporty, fast, and classy look. I think this almost looks vette-ish. I like this, a lot.
Red stripes look great! It'll be a hard choice..You guys are making this so difficult for me.
Also, to you guys not liking the headlights, imagine those angel eyes on it..
Hm...what if I could fabricate some lexan tinted covers for it during the day..best of both worlds.
Also, I'm going to try to replace those rectangular lights with round ones. What is the purpose of the extra light? Hi-beams? I thought this model of T/A only had the low beams as pop ups? Or was it only the hi-beams? /fail
It's not so much the look of the flip-up lights when they are down that I don't like, it's when they are up. Do you guys really think that a T/A of this year with it's lights open looks better than the fixed lights?
