hi t/a buddies, listen, my best friend just bought her first ws6 (used of course) its a 2001. However we just noticed that she has 16 inch rims and tires, i have a 2000 ws6 and mine has 17 inch,.. if hers are wrong, will it cause any problems? or will she be ok for the time being?

lol.. i had to check the web to make sure that mine is supposed to 17 inch, and yes 2000 ws6's came with 17 inch. as for the 2001 im guessing it should also have 17 inch, but as long as having 16's wont cause any harm to car, should be good news to her and her dad, who wouldnt let her drive it just yet, until they knew for sure that 16 inch tires and rims wont hurt her car.

First thing you should do is check the RPO sticker on her car (inside driver door). Look for WS6 if it's not there then the car isn't a WS6. Also might want to check your door aswell because the WS6 option was not available in Maple Red Metallic.
If your confused about WS6 vs WS9 check this post http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50838
All `96-`02 WS6 cars came with 17" wheels. The only exception is the `96-97 LT1 convertibles, all they got was the Ram Air.
Unfortunately many people selling these cars install the hoods and misrepresent the cars as something their not.
I could do the same as I have a factory WS6 hood aswell. All I would need is the badge and the taller Airbox because my suspension and exhaust is well beyond the factory WS6 oarts.
Except that I'm sort of a Purist and wanted to make something unique.Last edited by 9T8W66; 02-15-2009 at 05:41 AM.

It won't hurt the car I had 16's on my Trans Am(non-WS6). Just make sure it has the right size tires on it or it will make the speedo read off by a few mph. But that's the worst thing that will happen.

maple red metalic- 2000 TRANS AM WS6
the red maple metalic on my car, was my choice, i liked the color so much that i had my hubby paint it for me. the original color was red. but i already had a red firebird (just a regular firebird 1985) to which i had that one painted viper red. (i have pics of the 85 bird posted in my albums if anyone is interested in seeing it)

agreed, oh well, guess to each there own i guess, mine,.. i paid 12k for, and it only had 8k miles on it, but it had also been totaled at some point, but because my husband does collision and painting work, he brought it back to life, with a new rear clip put on it. i found the car on the net, and brought it in from north carolina.
