Help me please or I may snap!!!!
Ok, I posted about this before. My HP N5470 Laptop was having issues. It runs Windows 2000 Pro, with Media Player 9 with a Dvd/CD rom and floppy and all that other shit. It had 21 viruses and 110 spyware.....Boom, got rid of all that crap. Now the problem is a pop up when I restart or turn on that says
inetp60.dll could not be found. This pisses me off. But what makes me the maddest is my Media player. Everytime I put a cd in it puts exclamation points by the songs and says that the url is not right. I have never got my songs off the internet and the cd I have in there is not burned but a acual cd. I will post the code it sends in a bit.
I went to programs/access/entertainment/cd player but it says either the MCI is messed up or the drivers....how do I fix this pile before I have a heart attack at 26. Please help, please┌∩┐(◕_◕)┌∩┐

Dude I have been here before with some other issues...what I did was once I cleaned everything out I rolled the computer back to a date before I started having issues...system restore...then I made sure I had some good anti virus. Been running AVG for awhile now with great results... as far as the drivers you should be able to do a roll back or even update them... not sure how much this will help you Im trying to google some info for you also...good luck

Thanks, I downloaded AVG but the battery died right before I could run it
I did a registry check with 3 different cleaners and they found 508/534/604 errors in the registry so I figure around 500 is right. Between the three trials I was able to fix 67 of them. I then ditched them, did a virus scan with the old antivirus (Guardon) and defraged. Looks like I need a good cleaner or just say fuck it and dump everything and start fresh with XP or something. I would like to get it running good before I format and start over, just for peace of mind. I am not the dumbest at computers but FAR FAR from the smartest.

Sometimes you have to be careful with those registry cleaners. They can sometimes do harm.
You might try a system restore. At least the date just before you started having issues. I would update any drivers that are giving you an error code as well as Windows update after that.
If all else fails, a total restore from the CD may be needed. I used to have to do that a lot with an old HP I had and even did it a few times with my last Toshiba.
Thank goodness I have not had to with this laptop of almost a year and a half. Cuz... it's a bitch downloading all the updates that have occurred since the original install date!
Hope you get it figured out.

Try loading up in safe mode to stop the inetp60.dll from loading. Doing a quick search for that says its a BHO and adware/spyware. If you it still runs in safe mode, go to run and type msconfig, enter. That brings up your sys config, and you can manually select what starts and what doesnt. If that still doesnt work, download reg edit, (remember to back up your registry in a word file in case you erase something inportant) and let that program find and repair errors in your registry. See if any of those work.

Trying to start it in safe mode, resulted in it turning off for some reason. Can't use safe mode or e-diagnostics off of start up. Some thing is majorly wrong with this thing. I believe a wipe and re-do is the only thing that will work with this thing. Anyone know if XP will work on a N5470.

You can try going to microsoft.com and downloading media player 9 again. With the cleanup it might have removed something.

Then try just using the msconfig tool on mormal startup. Turn off anything excessive. Only let the comp load windows based systems. Still try the regedit. Ive used it multiple times. It gets rid of all BHO's and any spy/adware that self writes to the registry. As for the shutdown in safemode, well thats just weird. And no, an xp recovery disc will not install xp. That is designed to work with a pre-existing copy of xp.

Thanks for the info. I have a few ppl that have XP and would let me use it but getting them to give me the time is next to impossible it seems. I have tried unistalling and installing WMP 9 so I don't think that would be the problem.
