will i get enough traction?
i have a 98 auto trans am with the 273 rear end and i was looking to get like a 350 or maybe a 373... i wanted to still drive on the interstate but notice a difference in the acceleration. Also i heard that alot of times w/373 you loose traction and i'm still getting used to the car. i just bought it a bout a month ago and had to change an axle so i figure i will go ahead and put gears on it while i'm at it. and if i do upgrade to 373 all that i will have to do is tune the tranny and speedo right? how much do they charge to tune it? sorry for all the ?'s thanks

Gears
I have a 98 TA Auto that came w/ 3.23 and some bolt ons with 18x10 rear wheels. My car grips ok outta the hole and chirps into second. I would recommend a 3.42 or 3.73. I had 2.73's in my Mustand I used to own and swapped in 3.73's and it's like owning a new fasted car. I want to change my gears when I get my new axle. Had it rebuilt once and it's on it's way out again. With my mods and roungh driving that cheap factory rear is trash.

If your gonna work on it then get the gears. You better off getting the feel of the car with the gears then relearning your launch when you plan on getting them later. I hear most tunes are $100 an hour, but i think you can get it done with a handheld and being an auto will make worth more than a manual. I'm sure you'll get a recommendation on a stall converter too.
