What size will meet my goals
I'm currently deciding on which wheels will fit my performance goals. I of course want maximum dry traction, but I'm afraid if I go too wide I may have a very hard time in wet conditions (which are frequent enough to be a concern) or on dirty sandy pavement (lots of that around here, just the way it is in the area)
11" width seems a bit much given the second part of my goal...perhaps 10.5s for the rear...but what for the front, 10.5s as well or 9.5s (there is no 10" wide that I can find)
Now part 2 of my questions, is 17" optimal for handling in these cars or would an 18" rim with the same overall tire diamter handle significanly better? And would it affect straight line launches?

275-35-18s on 18 by 9.5s here no problems at all, handle excellent in wet conditions.
