for most any cam for street use you should be fine with a set of comp 918 springs and stock rockers.
being an m6 you have more play room than i do. heard lots of people liking 228/230 with .5xx lift. 112 lsa will give you a rougher idle and be more bitchy on cold starts, 114 lsa will sound a bit tamer

For a weekend toy I say nothing smaller than a 230 duration.

I am with INMY01TA all the way in that. I have a 230-236 that I was daily driving and I need more. Still ride like stock and gets good mileage with my tune. Now that I bought a daily driver I am not looking at anything under 240s

That 230/236 cam is still carrying at redline (6500) so there is power left on the table. Something like a 224/230 112+2 will peak almost as high and make more tq. under the curve giving you a faster car. Just my .02

my newest dyno took it past 7k and it still never flat lined. I do not have the sheet tho and don't remember the exact numbers it made. As for the 224-230 no it will not peak almost as high. My roomies GTO has a similar cam with a 6.0 liter and l92 heads and can not put up the numbers that I can. Also I am an A4 car with a 4200 stall so a lower powerband would not benefit me.

understandable. You can get a torque cam but you will have less peak horsepower. You just can't have everything. I will ask you one question though, when you are racing how often are you below 4,000 rpms?? You would have to ride in a large cam car to know the feeling.. they pull straight through to redline and upon shifting you are just starting your powerband over. Never really worry about coming out of the powerband. Only time you are not in it is during a launch and I dont know about you but I spun tires stock..

There is no such thing as a cam that will excel in them all because a cam is all about trade offs. If there was such a thing as a cam that has tons of bottom had great mid and made max hp possible and carried to 7000 we would all be running the same cam
And juiced... don't wanna argue but that extra 6* of duration over a 224/230 will get you 7-10rwhp.
Your buddys #'s could be caused by any # of things. Different dyno, Diff dyno conditions, tune not spot on, cam degreed wrong, cam ground slightly off, block not as fresh. Hell, dyno operators even have tricks to fudge #'s.
I know I will never get you to agree with this but a diff of 6 * duration is worth only 7-10 peak max.
Be careful spinning 7k you have the weak rodbolts like I do if you are on a stock bottom!!

I noticed no loss of low end torque switching from my 224 to my 232/236 cam. Definaetely noticed lower ETs at the track tho. My .02

could just be that my car is that much stronger from the factory. It has always been quicker than similarly modded cars but I dont know about 30rwhp not to mention the fact that I have a high stall and 12 bolt which he does not have. However I do know that he has IRS which will eat some power. Other than that we are roommates. I did both swaps, tuned by same guy (first time anyways), his car has 25k verses my 113k, and same dyno. oh well like I said though my car has been pretty strong from stock til now.
yes I do still have stock bottom end and she doesnt even seem to struggle. My shift points right now are set to like 6650 and rev limiter at 6800. I am going to do a rebuild shortly after my new cam.

your LSA and lift will also shift your power band around but if you have dyno sheets from both cams I can promise you that your power band shifted upwards. Even with my cam however I carry 350 ft/lbs torque from about 4800 to 5800 rpms.. if yours is anything like that then I am pretty sure you have enough to keep you moving.
Do you have an m6 or an a4? If you have an a4 and it were not stalled then you would notice a hell of a lag before your power and then it would be like VVVTTTEEEECCCCCC YOOOOO!

the comp cam has a .224/.230 .581/.588 and a lsa 114 or the more i think of it i may just go a bit biger and go with one .239/.242 .649/.609 and a 111lsa.
