I don't know? what the point is?
I heard today that a good friend of mine has cancer. But she is the healthiest person that i know, diet, exercise... she does everything right... i should know I'm an athletic trainer? I don't understand I'm the one that smokes cigars like a freaking chimney, i Dip... sometimes at the same time, and i drink like a fish. My diet is ok, i exercise, but everything that I've learned is completely contradicted, I'm the one that should have cancer. I guess it doesn't matter weather you live in a pyramid, or a shit house... they both hurt when they comes crashing down???

How old is your friend? Best wishes to her.
Shit just happens. I can't ask that kind of question anymore....it depresses me too much.
My 21 month old daughter has spent more time in the hospital than anyone in my direct family combined, stands a good chance of loosing at least one of her legs and her left kidney, and will fight her disease for her entire life.

Cancer is cancer man... there is very little that truly effects it one way or the other... tobacco products included. Yea, they make it more like than if you didn't smoke/chew... but in the end, its just more random chance then anything.
How old is she? She should be able to fight it if they caught it early enough.

Shes 45. We work in a physical therapy clinic. I'll tell you i have the upmost respect for you, your daughter and your family, and i wish everyone the very best. It truly takes a real man to stand by their family through the most trying of times. Shit does happen, and I'm learning more that dealing with adversity defines our character.

Luos is right man, life is a crap shoot sometimes. No matter how much we plan for it, sometimes randomness hits us like a Mack truck.
Best of luck to your friend

It does. Ya know its one thing if its you, but it becomes completely different when its a friend or family member. My friend is very tough, she'll probably be the first person i know to completely scare the cancer right out of her. She been very supportive to everyone i work with including me.

good luck to ur friend rob, thats really sad, cancer is horrible.
but ur story goes to show me that it doesnt matter what you do, if you're destined to get it, you're gonna get it.
so laugh it up, drink it down and enjoy life because u never know whats comin ur way.

Dont give up yet. Of course prayers will be with you and your family. But there is always a chance. I should know, I am a cancer survivor. and I am living a good healthy normal life. Once a year I go to Charleston for a check up to make sure things are ok. It does suck but if you guys need someone to talk to let me know.

I wish everyone the best in that situation or similar situations... Like said it's just a random draw most of the time... It sucks and it's certainly unfair... My best friend's mom had cancer a few years back and she beat it.. There's always at least a single ray of light in a dark room... You just have to look for it.

Cancer is mutated cells, why this happens with certain people we'll never know. But I sure as shit am not about to do anything to increase my chances of cancer. So although she may have no partaken in the use of tobacco products, she got cancer by chance. Anybody else in her family get it?

hey man, lemme tell you my uncle was diagnosed with brain cancer and was given roughly 3-5 months to live well guess WHAT that was back in 97 and he is still alive today, although he is not cured and never will be cause there is nothing more they can do for him....he has a good attitude about life and pushes on living it not thinking about his cancer and I think that is a factor why he is still alive today, its never over till its over bottom line, best wishes to you and your friend...

On another note, my mom just had her 3 year checkup, and is a breast cancer survivor, there is hope man, but happens to the best of us, just keep strong and give all the support you can... it means more than most will know, i experienced this first hand...

without being a doctor i'd have to guess that she is genetically predisposed to cancer...perhaps she has a history of it in her family and she then has a higher likelihood to get cancer. perhaps the behaviour that you see in her...the diet and exercise and whatnot was an attempt to ward off her predisposition to cancer.
at any rate good luck to her.
