wet sanding and buffing
Ok now that I have barely any money to put into the car I am going to attempt to wetsand and buff the car. I have never done this before and truely have no idea what I am getting my self into.
I have 3 test subjects.
1. The old 91 1500 the wife crashed up
2. My d/d 97 ranger
3. My stock z28 hood
I have not bought anything yet for the job anyone have any pointers
Can I get the stuff i need at walmart?
I am going to see if I can borrow the buffer from a friend though b/c i am a cheap ass.

A good quality buffer like Makita, Milwaukee, etc. is your first step. DO NOT use those cheap ass sterring wheel looking buffers as they are wortless except for applying WAX! Walmart has most of what you need but a paint store will have the rest.
1. 2000 grit paper 3m
2. rubbing compund 3m or Presta removes 1000 grit ans finer scratches.
3. Finer compund to remove the coarser compund scratches 3m/Presta
4. If a dark color use a glaze/polish/swirl remover for dark color cars 3m/Presta
5. Water bottle with water for sanding. Keep the paper and paint wet while sanding.
6. 3m polishing cloths. Microfiber cloths.
7. Seal all your hard work with a top quality wax like Mothers',Meguiars,3m,Presta.
8. Enjoy the rewards!!!
You can also get a clay bar setup and detail spray to get oxidation and contaminants off your car that might not need buffing. I would try the clay bar first and if it does the trick just follow that with a good wax.
