An eye doctor suggested that I buy, from his practice of course, prescription sunglasses with special features. My eyesight isn't quite 20/20 anymore, and I noticed I was having problems with glare. I blamed some of that (probably too much) on the Trans Am windshield, visibility of which goes way down once it's a little dirty.

Well, I put a large deposit down, waited, paid another big sum, picked up the glasses, and wow. The old sunglasses had lost much of their power (they're supposed to be kept in a case), but these new ones cut out basically all excess light and have me seeing crystal clear. Driving is much more fun - no more worrying about signs, and all the colors are vivid (which is only possible because I have naturally great color vision). The lenses have anti-reflective coating and back, polarization, and probably some other features that you might be able to find in ready-made sunglasses. Definitely consider upgrading your sunglasses.
