    2009 5.3

    I just bought a new 2009 silverado with the 5.3 and it is flexfuel. does anybody know if it is also AFM (active fuel management)? I've heard if it is flex fuel it's not afm and i've heard it can be both. any help would be great!

    I'am not sure if it is the xfe, how do i tell that? I have a friend with an 08 and he has the afm and no flex fuel.

    97 GMC with 02 LS6 engine

    Look at your DIC and see if it displays the instant economy readings. If you run stock exhaust you won't hear it but if you put on a performance exhaust you can tell the difference. Your IER's should really increase when in AFM mode.

    I don't have the DIC on mine but i was looking at my window sticker and it does say active fuel management so I must have it and also be the flexfuel...

    You can add a DIC if you like. I was reading an install write up and it's pretty much plug and play. More than likely you have AFM if it says it.
