that's a good cam choice. whats the LSA: 112 or 114? if you are an M6, go with the 112, that will give the car a nice lope at idle...
not to much for a DD car at all...

i cant remember, are you an m6 or a4? i'll be in the market for a cam late winter early spring for my a4, i want to get something big but not too big to keep my 2,800 stall......i was thinking something along the line of a split 228/230 high 5" high lift on a 112lsa.....is that too big for what i want? lol id like to get the right one the first time, but the more i read the more i wonder what size i really do want.

The Comp 224/230 @114 is a great daily driver cam and makes decent power - plenty over here are using it.
Cheers,
Macca

hi ya guys doin. i dont know alot about performance stuff but i was wondering if someone could give me a little education on cams. i have a 98 camaro ss M6 and wanted to put a cam in it. should i buy a whole cam kit and what would be the best choice for what i have. my car is a daily driver as well. i just dont understand what the numbers mean when you guys talk about cams. thanks for any help.........john

ok I'll try. 224/230 112lsa
224= the intake duration in degrees at .50"
230= the exhaust duration in degrees at .50"
duration is the amount of time the valve is opened. there are two ways to measure duration, total and at .50" (when the valve is opened atleast a half an inch and is no longer a restriction to air flow )
so you might have a cam with 280° total lift, but only 230° of lift that opens the valve more than a half an inch
112lsa = 112 degrees of lobe separation. ( the time between the intake and exhaust valves)
the smaller the number the more overlap (and lope) the bigger the number the less overlap (stock sounding)
being an M6 you can get away with running a bigger cam than I can in my a4
I hope I helped and didn't confuse you anymore lol

Blue- 2002 Z28 Camaro M6
In some ways it is tamer then my cam (on the intake) but it does have more on the exhaust. Should be alright if you find a good tuner, though I would expect cold starts to be bitchy sometimes.
I will give the advice that I give everyone looking for putting a cam in. Do LOTS of research, talk, all, and read (with a grain of salt internet stuff/dealers) all that you can get your hands on. The more you know the better you will be able to make decision.
