A couple of questions...oil and air
Hi, this is my first time posting here so I hope I am in the right place...
My questions are regarding porting a stock oil pump and what MAF to use with a FAST 92/92 combo.
Has anyone hand ported their stock oil pump? It looks like there are some thicker areas that could be taken down, instead of ordering one already ported. My motor only has 6500 miles on it and I think the stock pump would be fine for awhile longer. What is the max HP the stock pump will accomodate?
Secondly, I just ordered the FAST 92/92 combo and dont know what MAF to use with it. Anyone have a good one they would recomend?
Thanks!

Stock MAF is god for about 500hp. I pick up a box at my local parts store. Chevy LS1/LS6 Performance. It has detailed instructions on porting you oil pump, plus a boat load of other good info.

Wouldnt worry about "porting" your oil pump, if your worried about your pump go ahead and pick up a ls6 oil pump.
As far as the fast setup unless your pushing upwards of 500hp to the wheels your stock maf should be fine.

I wouldn't attempt
Unless you are a journeyman level machinist I wouldn't attempt to port the oil pump. Just my opinion, but a very important accessory, I wouldn't personally mess with other than changing out.

I have a master machinist i can fall back on if it is machining that is required. I am getting an LS6 oil pump. then porting it myself. (edited to add) If i can find out what needs ported and why.... obviously it is something that helps or shops wouldn't offer it so much.

porting
I took the oil pump apart and there are were some thick edges on the inlet and outlet sides. I used my dremel tool with an aluminum bit and took off the meat and then used some emory cloth to smooth it out. The final polishing was done with a cloth bit and some compound. It came out nice and smooth, and it wasn't hard if you have a lil' confidence. Thanks for the replies!
