I dont want to do a 160 because temps year round are not steady at all. anyways i wanna put a 180 in but am not sure if i can just put the 180 in or if its like the 160 and need to get the tstat with a new housing... need to know and i have a gift card for summit so any p.#s would be much appreciated. thanks

I would get it with the housing. I tried to pull my thermostat out of the housing and it was impossible...but I might have just been doing something wrong

The LS1 comes with the housing and the thermostat as one unless you get the upgraded LS2 design. I have a 160 in mine and I noticed no difference. If you're fans are set to come on at stock settings then the 160 won't matter.

Make sure the thermostat you purchase is "fail safe", that is to say if the thermostat fails, it fails in the open position.
