ford 9in
Did anyone swap in a ford 9in and need to get a longer driveshaft. My shaft is sticking out about 3 in. and makes a slapping sound the second the car starts moving. The rear is from quick performance

I used my stocker and was fine. I then bought a Strange 3" chromoly one and it was a little less than 1/2" longer than stock and still ok.
I also bought my 9" from quick performance.
Do you have adjustable suspension parts? if so you might need to do some adjusting?
Did you get a Detroit locker? If so they make a lot of noise and that's what you might be hearing?
I know mine makes some racket.Last edited by Jays00ss; 03-17-2008 at 06:41 AM.

i dont have any suspension parts except a aftermarket torq. arm and its not adjustable. I had them put a mini spool in the center section with 3.50 gears. Did ur rear get quiter as u broke it in?

i put a longer yoke on the front and it works perfect. How much noise should u hear from the rear because it definetly is not silent? love the 3:50 gears

With any after market High performance rear end with hardened gears, you will get some noise out of them. (the price you pay if you want to play) But if it is overly overpowering something could be wrong. When I said nice and quiet, I meant not as bad as mine LOL.
I have a Detroit Locker and it bangs, clunks, makes loud metalic noises, But I knew that when I bought it and it makes a good conversation piece.
