Trap speeds...
Ive seen on here other people have been running 12.5s on a trap speed around 110. My average trap speeds from the weekend was 110-111. So does this mean my car has potential to run mid 12s but i just need to drive it better? lol I ran a 13.2. Im really excited because it was my first time running the quarter, usually i do the 1/8th and its boring but i really want to know what i should be running. m6 with street tires also

Mid-high 12s I agree. It's all in the launch, when you are trapping over about 103 anyway. I've seen some really good launchs with other cars, then they run a 13.1 @ 103. Regular cars, to, not some light weight thing. But, if you start launching real hard, you will probably end up lunching your differential!
1/4 is all I run, if it's 1/8th I don't want to waste my time. My best was a 12.89 @ 109.85, had a 1.98 60 ft, that was 3.5 years ago with some cool October air. Usually I'm trapping 107.x, hope to get some runs in soon before summer heat arrives.

110 to 111 mph would actually be good for a very low 12 second run if you can drive it,,,and the rest of the car is setup properly to take advantage of the HP it's making.
Generally you'll see cars trapping 110 mph and barely cracking 12's. That's due to several factors. Either they can't drive well enough, 60 foot times suffer for a number of other reasons like tires, stall, clutch, suspension etc...or they don't run enough rear gear in the car to exploit it's potential.
You can run 100-102 mph and dip into the high 12's with a well setup car.

Full weight 4th gens will do it, 3400-3600 lbs race weight. I've done it at 4,100 lbs. and no suspension mods.
I find most of the time the 6 speeds are killing these guys. It takes alot of dedication and money to setup a stick car properly and exploit it at the track.
So much easier and less expensive to do it with an auto. The right converter and rear gear will make 11's a cake walk if you can trap 114 mph.

11.26@120 with a th350 in my Camaro and the same engine in my TransAm with t56 still went 120 but only at like 12.6x cos the ta was setup for street with 18's and stiff suspension etc but would pull like a raped ape when it got going on the top end
I like work. It fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.

alright cool, i was just wondering. My 60s were like 2.3. Traction and a broken tranny mount were a part of the problem. The best was a 2.1 though.

I hear you there about the 6 speed cars........Last year i had it down with street tires and stock rear stock clutch. I pulled a 12.79 with a 1.93 60ft not bad with street tires and 3.42's. this year i had a cam and a few other mods done to it all tuned at 397rwhp with a new monster clutch and it pulls so much harder. But ran it yesterday with my street 295/35/18's BFG KDW's (horrible for the track) but i can drive this car just cant get traction in 1st and spins in 2nd when the cam hits here we go with the pathetic 60 ft lol 2.179 OUCH! haha the only reason it got that good is cause i babied the hell out of it not to spin out of the hole
60 ft 2.179
330 5.601
660 8.376
mph1 88.59
1000ft 10.748
1/4 12.745
mph2 112.84 (decent trap speed)
I know when i have traction i'll pull low 12's and when i break down and spend another 3 grand for a ford 9" with 4.10's i should do 11.99's or better i hope but i see guys with autos just pull 11's with ease and the same engine mods. but i just cant do it to friggen boring!!!!!! but i'm paying for it now it is much harder to get into the 11's with a 6 speed than an auto but oh well just need more time
