STS arent that great, first of all the turbo is at the back its just kit with alot of extra usless tubeing running the air from the back to the front.

I saw the STS rear mount on Horsepower awhile back. They put it on a vette. I thought it looked cool. They said all the extra tubing makes it so you don't have to put in an intercooler since it is all aluminum. They put one in anyways if I remember correctly.

If your gonna run any kind of good boost you need an intercooler.

Hell there is nothing wrong with an sts, build your car right and you will make alot of power. What kind of power to the ground are you looking for.
Right now i am getting my car built for a twin turbo setup from APS. I was going to go sts but then APS put the word out on the kit and i jumped.
I want to get to or over 700 on pump gas. I see nothing wrong with the sts kit. JD_Z28 recently sold his 2002 sts z28 intercooled with a t-76 and that thing was kicking, on 12.5lbs he was making 653 rwhp and 664 rwtq. Oh and his car was m-6 with textralia clutch. I think that speaks for itself on the sts. If you want a twin turbo kit i would look into APS, my car should be done in a little under 5 months when i get back from deployment, I'll let you know then.
But like someone said earlier build your bottom end first. If you just want to run low boost on a stock bottom end that is way too much money to spend. You mine as well go head/cam with a little bit of spray.

I wouldn't say it's too much $$$ to spend, It actually would be about the same money. I just ordered a turbo kit after looking into the costs of building an all motor set up that provides the same power. It was about 5300 in parts(nice parts) to be around 410-440whp all motor, and the turbo kits that are around are right there in price, and if you run low boost it'll do those numbers all day long, but with better torque and a more broad power band. A turbo kit is easier to install (way less labor for most) then i/h/c imo.

yeah that is true, it all depends on how far you want to go. The power curve all depends on what turbo you use also, i've seen turbo'ed ls1's with not so great power curves, really you can make a h/c car with an awesome power curve it all depends on the tuning and the cam of course.
Also the tuning for the f.i. is going to run you a bit more. I've known people who have both full bolt on stock cube to f.i. and it seems that the f.i. are more tempermental. Sure it could cost in the same ballpark, but if you go f.i. you have to do it right, it's not something you should go the cheap route with.

I've done a lot of research into STS's turbo kit and there isn't much there to dis, it makes alot of sense to me. with the turbo(s) at the back it keeps your weight distribution off the front, and I've found guys running some pretty wicked numbers with those kits. Oh, and you don't have to pay
$3,000-$7,000 for custom turbo manifolds! Plus it keeps all that notorious turbo heat out back, and not under your hood where it can heat soak your engine compartment and negatively impact your performance.

I think that I want to go with the Gen tt ones because of the power. Come on twin 60's?

The aps kit turbo is equivalent to a 60. Plus there are a couple of companies that offer upgrades to the turbo which can throw you over the 1000 rwhp mark. The gen-tt is a wee bit cheaper in price.
I am going with aps because of their rep, plus the setup looks awesome.
I don't think i ever met you haighter i before i left san diego for my deployment. You'll see my twin setup when i get back.
the kits are both a bang for your buck though, i mean a 5k twin turbo setup, that is a steal. To good to pass up.

me, i am a squid, i've been in for about 5 years. I've been in san diego the whole time except for when i am on a deployment, this is my third one. I'm an e-5 on the John Paul Jones and i am a Sonar Tech/ Primary SAR guy on my ship. There is my story.................phew.........
I have about 3 years to go and then i'll be out, time to try something new.
So you are looking at twin turbocharging your car too. I plan to have my car built and tuned by early october or late september.
