Off for the strip. On if you are taking sharp turns.

My traction control is my right foot. TC in these cars is way too obtrusive! You will lose almost a half second with TC on at the drag strip. I am sooooo glad I don't have to turn that shit off all the time, my car is not equipped with it. Besides, how much does that little switch add to the wieght of my car? It's gonna slow me down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a !TCS box so it defaults off all the time. I only bought the option with the car because I was going from a Pontiac Sunfire to a Trans Am and was a little unsure of myself. If I had my time back, I would not have bothered. I hate it when I kicks in, taking away all driver control, but that's just me.

Make sure that you turn it off if your at the drag strip. The first time I went I didn't know about it. Trust me you'll know if you have it on when you do your burnout. My car just about dies if its on.

Back in the day people knew how to drive. The rear end slips, you quickly take your foot out of the gas and re-apply. TCS is WAY too aggressive. You loose thrust for nearly a second. Leave it off, improve your driving skills, and keep the car on the edge all the time without letting it go over. TCS does not improve performance. It kills power so crappy, inexperienced drivers don't spin off the road.
I have the same complaints about ABS. People are forgetting how to drive.

I agree! ABS does help on dry pavement stops, better than anybody's foot does. However, I drive a lot of different cars for my job, and it always seems like ABS makes the car stop longer on wet or snowy pavement. Also, traction control and the stupid yaw controls on the newer cars stop any amount of wheelspin. Who is in control of our cars, the car or the driver? The government? Aliens? Probably comes down to lawyers. People have sued car manufacturers silly, and these safety nets help avoid lawsuits. I read now that with some "intelligent" cruise control systems, they will apply the brakes for you if it determines something is in the way and you aren't doing anything about it. Some BMWs and Mercedes have this already!
