Lab work is back on Castrol Edge
OK so for $8 bucks a quart let's see what we are getting here......I'll compare it to a $8 Amsoil (retail no PC discount)....
Castrol Edge..............Amsoil.....What it is used for
Silicon 3.1.................2.3.........anti foaming agent
Potassium 0...............0............background residual
Boron 66...................19..detergents, dispersant, extreme pressure add
Barium 0...................0.3..........same as above
Magnesium 12...........12............same as above
Moly 129..................220..........friction modifier
Calcium 3509.............3468..detergents, dispersant, extreme pressure add
Phosphorus 823.........810..detergents, dispersant, extreme pressure add
Zinc 941..................848...detergents, dispersant, extreme pressure add
Vis@40C 61.8...........62.0
Vis@100C 10.4.........10.7
This is one stout add pack and has the Lubrizol signature all over it. Looks like a GRPIII for sure...far better numbers than Mobil1 for sure...so bottom line is this is one serious oil guys.......now of course we have to see it perform.....UOA's forthcoming......by the way this is the Edge 10-30 that was run through the lab.....

is edge a replacement for syntec? or is it a more expensive alternative? I'm not lube expert, but by those numbers it takes on amsoil hard.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I looked for it at my local AZ but I didn't see any. This must be very new if it isn't at my local auto supply store. I used Syntec Blend for over nine years with my last car and it did me well. If the AZ by me starts carrying it, I may switch over.

most auto parts stores have seen this in their stocks yet at this point and probably won't at least for the next few months...maybe not until spring.
looks like one hell of an oil though. not sure if i can justify that much in the way of price...but if i can pull 5,000 miles out of the oil change veres 3,000...well...

Thanks dude! Damn, I found it at my local Wally world for $19.95 for the 5 qt jug when it first came out. I bought a few jugs!!!
I still get a kick out of some of the locals here. I went to local hangout the other night and these LS1 dudes were talking mad shit about Stangs in general when I showed up! I told them I wasn't partial and liked both and if I had my TA I would spank their ass too! They said i was lying about having my TA and it running 10's... I just laughed and called them out to run my Slowbra but got no takers. I hate seeing LS1 dudes act like that. Young punks I tell you...

Kids. I have one here in my little bitty town with an ol 55 Chevy....fricking land yacht....runs high 11's on 150 shot of N02.....it's built don't get me wrong...but he would need to lose about 800lbs and take a 250 shot to even have a chance with me....but he talks shit constantly....so I challenged him to a heads up winner takes $1000 bucks.....hell no sez he....but he still is talking shit......

Yeah, all talk and no action. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard the quote "Well on tech there is a guy running 10's with stock shortblock and the same or similar H/C/I as me so I can do it too!" Nevermind the guys with H/C/I that are running 10's usually have good suspension, wieght reduction, gears/built rear, auto-stall, good tires, and a driver mod. These guys had street tires, 10 bolts with stock gears, stock clutches/auto-stall, and no driver mod! LOL! I tell you its comical top say the least. Then they talk to me like I have no clue about LS1's...
