IN lbs to FT lBS Conversion
I can't find an inch lb torque wrench anywhere. From my understanding you can convert it to ft lbs by dividing the inch lbs number by 12. This gives you your ft lbs torque number. E.g.
44 IN LBS /12 = 3.6 FT LBS
89 IN LBS /12 = 7.4 FT LBS
Am I wrong in this method? Is there a reason not to try?

You are correct. Just divide by 12 to convert inch pounds to foot pounds.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
12 in-lbs = 1 ft-lb so yes you are correct.
If a fastener calls for in-lbs though you'd be better off using the appropriate tool. Most ft-lb torque wrenches don't go below a certain threshold and are highly inaccurate below it.
FWIW, my ft-lb torque wrench doesn't even register below 25 ft-lbs.
