It all depends on your goals. You can go from mild to wild and from weekend driver to full out drag racer. Your ultimate goal will determine what parts to put in the engine. Post your vehicle and purpose and you will get what you are looking for.
My ride is a 2002 Camaro SS SLP #3296 with 30k, LTH, 3" Y, CME, Frost tune, K&N, ported TB, Blackwing lid, Bellows, MSD, Denso Iridium, and 85mm MAF, Bilsteins, Eibach springs, SLP strut brace, Adj. Panhard, TA Girdle, UMI, Pro 5.0, Nitto NT555
My wife has a 2004 GTO with the rare SAP, 18" wheels, K&N Cold Air System, MSD, Ported TB, Frost tune, Denso Iridium, Flowmaster cat-back, 3200 Yank, 75k

Whoever you're getting the heads from is who you need to ask about a cam. When you know what heads you'll be using and what they flow, and what your ultimate power goals are, you can talk to your cam manufacturer.

Put your HP and TQ goals on paper and call some vendors for ideas and parts. A good 383 stroker starts with a good bottom end. Don't skimp here. Good quality tri-metal bearings, a quality forged crankshaft, ARP bolts and studs, forged H-beam rods, forged aluminum pistons and file fit rings. And the most important part is the machine work, make sure it is done right. Add in a good oil pump and a roller timing chain and you are on your way to a fast, reliable engine. After you get your bottom end done you need to take some measurements on the deck height and piston height so that when you order your aluminum heads you will know what your CR is by factoring in you combustion chamber cc volume and your head gasket thickness. Shoot for around 9.5 to 10.2 for pump gas. Don't go too crazy with your cam choice but I would go with a roller cam and lifters as well as roller rockers. Crane makes good, affordable items to fit this need. Your rocker arm ratio will depend on your overall CR and cam choice, 1.6 or 1.7 is most common. After that you will need to make your intake choice either EFI or carb. last is a good set of headers, for a 383 stroker I would go with 1 7/8" if they fit your ride. You should come up with a reliable 450 - 500 hp engine. I hope this helps.
