LT Myth or not?
Alot of people say their car "feels" slower after installing long tube headers. Is this a myth or do the LT's really loose a bit of torque down low but raise the power band?

I just installed a set of LT's and a true dual exhaust, haven't had my frost tune yet, but my car already pulls alot harder. Go get those LTs............have fun with the install on those too.....lol.

I wish I could find the person who started this bs rumor and
LTs are one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do to your car. Some civic driver probably told his v8 friends who didnt know dick about cars this in order to stop him from buying them and raping him even worse!

it is posible to go with too big of a header and in that case you would loose some torque. for a stock to mild modified engine a 1 3/4 header would be best. anything more like a wild cam good flowing heads or bigger cubes i would probably run a 1 7/8 header.

you lose some power down low but you make up for it in the mid to high end of the powerband.

My myth is your car sounds louder/meaner and you think it should be going faster than it is but in reality its faster than you started with

I put longtubes on and it freed up some hp, made it sound better, throttle response improved, but really making it faster? Not really...

I bought the Texas speed 1 7/8 Headers and felt a good seat of the pants pick up. who cares about low bottom down torque i dont race down there. My mid range is fine and strong and top end is great.

Wow.....
You will gain power throughout the entire rpm range. argument ended.
The only way that people might think otherwise is if they dont get their car tuned for it. After putting on LT's the car will not run the same as with manifolds. period.
Most people end up running real rich on a stock tune with LT's.
And I wish I could find it but at one point I saw 2 dyno graphs of before and after with the torque curve of the post install above that of the pre intstall across the entire range.
Oh and you will pick up more power, or a higher amount of increase, in the higher rpm range than the lower. this can also contribute to some claims of losing power down low.

My 1/8th E.T. didn't change after long tube install. I did notice a 1 mph difference in speed. Tuning freed up 6 hp. My fastest time ever is still with the stock manifolds & street radials.
