Indeed kids will be kids. When I was 18 I was given an old beater that wouldn't speed if I begged it to.... Alright well maybe if I begged. That was the first car that had a title in my name. When I finally bought my own car about 6 months later with my own money i was used to driving slow and the power of the V8 was amazing yet downright scary at first, even considering that I had been driving V8's earlier in life lol.
Just be glad that he is OK and when he gets his license back.... at like 25.... you know he will have a newfound respect for the power of an automobile.

I'm glad your son is ok!!! My son is 18 and has wanted a f-body or mustang since he started driving. I told him NO many times.....he is driving an 02 Ford Ranger 4.0 5 speed. I told him if he does not get into trouble with his truck I'll help him get a muscle car when he turns 21. When we bought the truck he put down $1,500 and I put in $1,000. He is on the loan to help build his credit. I'm paying most of the payment until he is out of HS and can get a full-time job.

Very sad to see such a beautiful car destroyed, but life is SO much more important. Plenty of other Trans Am's out there! Get to feeling better!

There before the grace of God go I, I'm not religous, but it is applicable. I have a 21 yr old son and a 23 yr old daughter, could have happened to us.
A neighbor recently bought his 20 yr old daughter a Viper, a week later she wrapped it around a tree right up the street from us. All cars will go 100 mph, it is just a matter of how fast you get there.............Last edited by rkh3; 05-04-2010 at 11:55 AM.

It hurts to see such a clean WS6 totalled. Glad to see your son is alright though. The most important thing is that he is alive and his friend is alive.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
see now that amazes me someone would do that...because the vipers even the new generation are very raw and it is a traction/no traction...and once there is no traction in regards to cornering etc....they are not forgiving and the viper will bite your ass ...that is the biggest thing i have notice. as a parent and even just a consumer it is their responsibility to learn about the car...i would never want to put any unfimilar driver, especially a teen etc in control of a car that is soo unforgiving once traction is broke.
