Black as black can be- 2001 Trans Am WS6
nutser
Yea mine is a 01 and I ran 13.08 with a 2.0 60ft on my very first run with it, all stock except for hooker muffler, msd plug wires, and slp lid with mac air filter.....it had a slipping clutch ( hince the 60 ft time 2.0..that is hard to beat in a stick with street tires, now it spins through 1st and 2nd) and a tranny that was going out. Now I got the tranny built and spec clutch, it has stock 3:42's and alum driveshaft stock too, and I added LT headers and a catless Y-pipe and im telling you it looks meaner and sounds and fells so much badder than anything I've ever seen, even though a C6 Z06 vette looks bad, I feel a all black WS6 looks meaner than any vette or ANYTHING...it looks and sounds just with boltons/headers with no CATS that its going to suck you into the hood nostrils and spit you back out.....HARD

I've read the 1LE is nothing but same suspension as the WS6 got but not even as good, and taking weight away doesnt always make a car faster, its about the 50/50 weight ratio, and how your suspension works, the 1LE is made for everyday road driving, like the WS6, I know my WS6 hooks way better than a stock trans am or Z28, I ran 2.0 60ft at 13.08 with just air lid and muffler when I had 110,000mi, I can post a slip, and I have regular street tires...I think the WS6 atleast in my year was set up for drag or cornering use, because my car squats and goes, and when I took it to dealership I wanted different shocks, and they told me keep what I had cause they dont get any better than what is on it from factory for drag racing with the minimal mods I have, so I kept them.....

see you know where im coming from then, Ive had people tell me that 01 and 02 WS6 ran quite a bit faster for unknown reasons, and I was hoping for 13.50's or 60's and ran that 13.08 on very first run with a 60 ft of 2.0 and a worn out stock Z06 clutch, I actually think thats why I got so good of a 60 ft because my clutch was slipping a bit......im getting it tuned in 2 weeks so I can figure this all out because for what I had done to run 13.08, and the guy that built my tranny said someone had been in it and tried fixing it before I got it and didnt even know how I ran it, he says i'll get .2 tenths out of the tranny built, and I got headers, catless y-pipe, spec clutch, all which I did on my own except for the tranny built, its really beefed up it cost me $3000 for a bench rebuild.....and my exhaust and this tune setup the guy is lookin for 385-400RWHP, I dont see how thats possible, but he said for me to run 13.08 I had to have atleast 320RWHP, and with my exhaust mods and his tune he says it will be another 60-80RWHP, I just dont get it, it has 115,000 miles now and only $500 in boltons minus tranny and clutch, I dont see how it can put up that kinda number, but I will keep you all posted...I never seen a tune done before even

I would get your car tuned by someone else if the tuner thinks he is going to add that much power from just those mods. 385-400 WHP takes heads and cam or forced induction. He either has no idea what he is talking about or he is ripping you off in some way...
My car has 379 RWHP and my mods are Full bolt ons and a pretty aggresive cam... my tune added around 20 WHP and that was after the other mods.
Also the 1LE camaro had the exact same suspension as the WS6Last edited by wooddaniel; 03-18-2009 at 08:55 AM.

1LE is a factory Autocross package guys, the WS6 Suspension is similar but not the same. 1LE's have Koni double adjustable shocks which are much better than the Decrappons that come on every other F-body. Also they have a much stiffer panhard bar.
And the reason they are lighter is they are strippers with no power options.
BTW the 1LE Pkg for the Firebird could only be ordered on Formula's and it also prerequisited the WS6 option save for the previously noted improvements.
Don't ever listen to anyone who tells you the stock shocks are good, they were junk before they even installed them on the cars new.Craig

I remember my first encounter with a bird. I was 8 riding my bike at night with some friends, we were playing bike tag/hide and go seek. I was it, so I was counting to 50 in the middle of the street. I thought I heard a car start but then it turned into a low ground shaking growl. I uncovered my eyes, and saw something creeping towards me. I could barely make out the figure of it, but it was getting closer. I wanted to book it, but my legs wouldn't move. Then he popped open his headlights and revved his engine, I nearly shat myself. I was like Im going to get eaten by this huge monster. He crept all the way up to me before he got out of the car and asked me what I was doing in the middle of the street this time of night. From then on, I've wanted a black on black 2000 ws6.

yep it is same suspension as 1LE, but he said that my headers, and catless 3in y-pipe with my new tranny build and clutch will give me 40-50RWHP and his tune will give me %80 of what I got already from those mods...he is basing it off what I ran, a 13.08 with a slipping clutch and trashed tranny he said I had to have had 320RWHP to do that he thinks....I seen guys that night I ran that with 1998-2000LS1 cars with cams and heads only running 12.70's and around that at best, I had 1 run and I ran 13.08 with just slp lid,mac filter, msd plus wires, hooker muffler, with 110,000mi, the guys with LS1's said it was unusual and that they were running like 13.50's-13.80's with just the mods I had, I almost ran 12's and my tranny broke shifting into 3rd on my second pass and I ran it 6 more times shifting from 2nd to 4th and still managed a 13.39...I got my car from original owner with 107,000mi and the body was perfect, garage kept its whole lifetime, and a lot of people that have seen my timeslips think the guy before me had things done to the heads or maybe a different motor in it, because I have the Z06 block, and it has milling marks on it on spots my buddys LS1's dont...but when I got it everything was stock, I mean everything, and the guy that built my tranny said it looked like it had been ran on nitrous, he has built over 1500 T56's and said it looked like a tranny that had been ran on nitrous, so maybe it has had stuff done before. It doesnt smoke, tick, leak oil, I mean nothing, rearend doesnt wine, he says he's never seen one in so good of shape with that many miles, says my motor looks new, and rearend looks rebuilt...but when bought it still had paper filter even....

That is a very unrealistic estimate for just Headers/Exhaust/Tune. I would say 25-30RWHP realistically. I have a cam/intake and full bolt ons and dynoed close to 380. Your mods I am guessing will put you at around 340-350.
Et's are not all about WHP. I went 13.3 very consistently with my 2000 Trans Am M6 (non-WS6) Paper filter and stock tires. I am a decent driver, Not the best, but pretty good.
