Typical. Bad mouth all cops, but don't give any info about yourself. The original post here was a genuine attempt to find out about a career and ask real questions about it. Yet a few have to come here and make little spiteful comments about the profession. I'll leave it to the viewers to decide who the sad cases are.

I've never been a mustache guy. I guess that's why I'm not eligible for promotion.

oh? i'm a farmer with a net worth of almost 2 million dollars with land and machinery. i'm doing just fine.

if you had to become a cop, generally (but not always) you're too stupid to do anything else.

Money doesn't make a man. I know lots of rich men who are people I consider friends. They value character and integrity over a monetary bottom line. When someone throws out a comment like you just did about wealth and - at the same time - openly defames the law enforcement profession as being filled by individuals "too stupid to do anything else", it tells me that you have a problem with authority. Authority isn't controlled by wealth.

Ironically, I'm good to go with that. Thanks for making my day.

Please define "loud mouth little pricks with half a brain". Let's see if I qualify, personally.

Make no mistake though friend, we DO make a difference. Maybe not one that means anything to some people, but I know the truth - at least for me.

I've taken the field, not just watched the game on the sidelines.

see! you THINK you make a difference! cops do in ways make a difference, like generating donut shops extra revenue.

lets see... do you scream, holler, yell and swear at people for not wearing their seatbelt? do you treat all people like you're better than them because you wear a pretty uniform and a badge? do you break alot of the laws that you're supposed to enforce? do you protect your own no matter what they've done wrong? will you lie through your teeth to get people to admit to something?

don't bother answering no. it's easy to tell you're one of these cops. i've had nothing but bad experiences with cops and have only met one in my life that was a respectable police officer.

i have a net worth about 20 times that... but i'm far from rich... i still have to work every day... net worth doesnt' define some ones financial standing... just because that is my net worth doesn't mean that it is in my pocket or that it will be in my life time...

    on a side note...

    15. “Cop bashing”
Persistent or purposeful “cop bashing” is not allowed. Referring to a LEO, cop, policeman, etc is appropriate but unproven defamatory remarks or titles will not be tolerated.

you may want to take a quick peek at the forum rules...

Okay, I won't bother answering no - to you. Now why don't you do the right thing and leave this thread to those who are giving another member honest feedback? They posted with an interest in law enforcement. I'm IN law enforcement, you are decidedly NOT. Saying you have only met one - ONE - respectable cop in your entire life means you either live the life or a hermit or you are intentionally spreading fertilizer here (a term you may understand being a farmer and all).

Neither is productive to the topic. I don't expect everyone to be supportive of a career in law enforcement, but opinion needs to be objective, not just insultive.

Is that a real rule on here? no cop bashing? If it is that is pretty stupid, a cop is an occupation just like a taco bell employee or anything else out there; so does that mean i also cant bash Taco Bell employees or the burger king drive through employees union?

It is a rule, they're posted if you doubt that.

The remark you made about the mustache is just humorous, not really what I'd call bashing. I actually thought it was funny.

When was the last time you saw a "bashing" of a Taco Bell employee on this site? Or when information is being requested about the specific job. Do a search on "cop" and see how many times the threads go south with insults heaped upon the profession. That is why the rule exists.

Maybe if someone had screamed, hollared, yelled, etc., to these people, two more of them may still be alive today. Ironic how the one that did live WAS wearing their seatbelt.

either way, most cops are useless. some are good, most are not. you're not going to change my mind, and i'm not going to change yours.

ya know...people hate on cops alot...but where's the first place u go when your shit gets stolen...house broken into...neighbor hit your car....when the shit goes down...people call the cops to be the mediators...most thankless job...yet self-rewarding, if you believe in what you're doing.

how bout witnessing it myself? stuff like driving drunk one night then handing out DUI's the next... messing with other guys women... starting fights then hiding behind their badges like sissys.... getting women really drunk then trying to take advantage of them.

you gotta realize i live in a smaller town. most of this shit i've witnessed myself. so i ask you how am i supposed respect people like that, police officer or not?

on the other side of that coin, speeding is a hot topic...some would call it random taxation...but more people get away with it....really...then the ones that get caught.....the time you get caught...when in most cases you get away with it, is what gets most peoples panties in a wad...

we get alot of young cops fresh out of the academy. most of them are hockey players who didnt make it, are too dumb to do anything else, and have a huge chip on their shoulder.
