My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
This is a story of uneducated decision making. Stomp on the breaks next time someone trys to run their little wind-up-toy on your ass-make it their problem for being an asshole. You lucked out with only being pulled over by a "Mounty"

Sounds like you made the best of the situation. Good for you to re-think about what you were doing, and what you'll do in the future.
I read a lot of the responses and let me tell you a fact: Yes an LEO can write you a ticket after the fact, or just go get a warrant. Those telling you to basically buck up at him and then fight it are talking BS. You did the right thing by taking his sermon and moving on. Probably a little risky asking him why he didn't go after the Evo, but that seemed to work out okay.
Any cop stopping someone who was doing 120+ is doing what they are supposed to do. Those claiming he was on a power trip are glazing over that. Maybe he was on a little power trip, but by the facts you mentioned he had a violator nailed, plain and simple. Anybody who wants to argue about that is arguing with the comments of the person who was actually stopped.
BTW- a real power trip would have ended with you charged with street racing. Basically, you did have a spontaneous race. Iffy, but I have no doubt a magistrate would find probable cause for that.
Look, I'm not trying to preach to ya, but I don't want people making bad choices because nobody discussed it from the LEO standpoint. Yeah, you might "fight" these kind of charges and win (hell, OJ got off didn't he) but why find out? I will tell you that lots of people talk a good fight on the internet, but in real life, it is a different story.
Glad it worked out for ya man.
