So using your example of a 500cfm TB, 2x 43040 in a dual configuration will flow 50% more again. Where's the restriction?

And don't believe the pipe flow figures you posted - they are just as misleading as anything from a manunfacturer. A straight 3" pipe has a theoretical max. flow of around 800cfm, so how can a borla flow 1300?!! I'll tell u why, because they are ramming the air through such a short length and not testing how it flows as part of an end to end exhaust system. Misleading to base purchase choice off that alone.

I won't even go into the science that is exhaust flow in real world applications because it's pointless convincing others who live off what the internet tells them.

Turbos are a different story again.

You are entitled to your opinions as I am mine. Its the package that matters, not single components in isolation. Oversize one part and the entire combo will be worse for performance as they are not working together.

Yes, a Borla XR will flow more than a louvered muffler of the same size. But just because it can doesn't mean it is better all round.

    Yep

I agree..You would have to have a dyno available to you full time and start swapping out exhaust to really derive at what works best for your particular setup. Air in...air out is the key to an efficient internal combustion engine. You can however stifle the flow with crappy flowing mufflers or go the other way and run no restrictions but basic headers and pipes. Hit the happy combination for your mods and your at the peak performance for that setup. What ever fires your rocket (no pun intended).

you are exactly right we are both entitled to our opinions..but dont insult me with your bullshit "I won't even go into the science that is exhaust flow in real world applications because it's pointless convincing others who live off what the internet tells them." thats a jackass thing to do and makes you look like you THINK you know everything. but i just do some research looking at different brands ect, read reviews by people who...guess what? have "real world applications" so there goes that ignorant statement..

secondly you didnt answer my question...where did you get that info? bud i could careless what your set up is. like i said, not all flowmasters suck, just the majority of them that MOST people get, they dont flow as well as other brands...period. you can argue well i have that threotically can flow THISSSS much. all i did was post tests...i am awaiting a reply of tests that proves this post wrong...until then i dont care about theoretical and i dont want to hear anything from you to me about me or this subject until is see dyno comparision of the same car/different set/ups or a simlar test that i posted. Bud i believe you, i know you know your shit, but i have herd people who are very knowledgable also telling people that they should still use FRAM oil filters. sorry if i am comming off as a ass, but that little shot about "no real world" was a personal and cheap shot and didnt need to be taken there. and until you post up and physical tests or tests..then guess what..for all we know you are just a guy that is posting..and if we were to believe you, then guess what...we would be living off what the internet tells ya.

that's why you don't buy budget heads... those were basically cleaned up, milled stock castings from what I remember, and a 224 cam.

interesting conversation in here guys. BTW, on the whole exhaust thing, real world dyno tests are what matters the most. Also regarding internet and book publications, check your sources. One thing I was always taught in school when it comes to researching things automotive. Would you believe a guy writing a book about LS1's that only goes on the internet for information and pulls information based on forums, or a book written by actual GM engineers and aftermarket parts manufacturers with lots of pictures and dyno sheets. Just keep your cool in here guys and play nice before I sick my evil monkey on you. Have a nice day!

Not to hijack the thread but would You consider Patriot stage two heads budget? Would a person be better off just p/p the stock heads?

Either way don't expect stellar gains. You might get lucky and make a few more than most but who knows. I do like the TEA 5.3s, they consistently make good numbers for a ported factory casting...

Here's another vote for Flowmasters with an electic cutout. I have Hooker headers and an ORY, so the Flowmasters have a nice tone during normal driving. When I need to get rid of the Flowmaster "restriction", I simply hit the button for the cutout! Problem solved (and time to cover your ears).....it's nice to actually be able to compete with the sound (from a volume standpoint) of a Mustang with headers, flows and an OR H-pipe!
